[FIXED] Really hot temperature GPU

Hello,

For like 10 min, the game runs good at 45°c CPU and 50°c GPU, after 10 min, the GPU usage drop from 80% to 50% but the temp goes up. I just stopped the game after 15 min gameplay and it was at 75°c. (GPU usage ±50% - CPU usage ± 5-15%)

Is there something to change somewhere?

My screen is a 60hz and i try enable/disable vsync in game and on nvidia control panel but the problem still there.

R5 2600 - RTX 2060super - 16Gb ddr4 3200mhz - nvme S2 sata 1Tb -Driver 472.12 - 1080p

Thanks

EDIT: I just tried, when those temp start rising, even if i put the game at low or ultra it doesn’t change a thing, the game still at 75°c, even on low…

EDIT 2 : I just try to stay on the lobby and chat, for like 15-20 min, the temp are not rising there.

EDIT 3 : The problem is fixed, be sure to update your driver to the last one

I have a GTX 1660Ti, 32 gigs of RAM, and and NVMe SSD along with a 1920x1200 60hz monitor with Vsync on and I’ve selected to limit frames to 60. I’m also playing full screen.

I resolved my temp problem I noticed I was having months again. I installed that NVMe last month and my PC wasn’t really dusty, though I dusted it anyway. My GPU runs at 75c while playing D2, but if I switch to classic graphics (press G), the temp goes down to 65c and GPU and CPU usage doesn’t even hit 10%. I’d say 75c is normal and nothing to worry about. Ark: Survival Evolved runs a little hotter, but still these are safe temps for a GPU, If it causes you worry, try using canned air to remove dust from your PC fans and make sure any cooling (fans/AIO/water, etc.) you’re using is working properly.

Everything is clean is my pc.

But let me tell you, if your GPU hit 65°C with 10% usage, this is a HUGE problem.

The game have a problem, let’s wait till they find it and resolve it, but loosing 30% usage on a GPU and gain 25°C is not normal nor to have 65°C with 10% usage…

Check your settings and set a frame rate cap to it. Most have said that setting a cap fixes the overheating.

Please read all the post people…

Well it went from 75 to 65 and about 7% usage if I remember correctly, but I could be wrong. I only tested it briefly, but those temps are normal GPU temps, especially under load, so it was nothing to worry about, so I ignore it. It’s not going to drop from 75 to 45 or so that quickly after running at 75, it’s still going to be warm. I don’t have my fans turned up to max, either, which would shave some of those numbers down. My fans do ramp up a little and they get slightly louder, but practically quiet while playing (the game sounds overwhelms the sound they make). I have other games, even older games that run slightly hotter and the fans ramp up noticeably more. 75c is not a temp to panic over nor is 65 for that matter.

Make a try with other game you’ll see. If you GPU is at 75°C, it take less than a minute to drop to 50°C when you close the game. Just check with MSI afterburner.

I made lots and lots of test over the years, but here in this game, something is wrong.

65°C-75°C is normal for a GPU under nearly full load, but not for 10% usage…

I have 71°C in rdr 2 with 99% usage…

EDIT : and it’s not the temp the problem, is the usage compare to it.

So I’m using MSI to monitor and it uses it’s own fan curve, unless I manually adjust it to 100%, which I usually do in other graphically intense games. After some minutes of play, I see the temps are about 10c lower than I had said (not over 70c). GPU usage is around 60-70%. CPU temp is even 10c lower and the usage is lower, too. Classic graphics drops the GPU usage to about 7% at most and the temps go down to about idle. I am using the highest preset. Certainly, the longer the play, the warmer the temps are going to be. Plus, I saw higher temps and usage in the encampment than the Cold Plains, but there was also little on the screen during a brief walk through Cold Plains, not many monsters.

Well then good news, your game runs good on you spec.

Absolutely not the case on mine. I have (GPU) 50°C at 80% for 10 min in game, that runs well. After 10 min, the temps goes up to 75°C in like a minute and the usage drop to 40-50%. You don’t seems to have that kind of problem.

Lots of people i read have 2000 and 3000 nvidia series. Maybe it’s because of that i don’t know.

EDIT : and after 10 min, while the problem occur, my MSI overlay close for some reason.

Also, these temps fluctuate. GPU usage gets to almost 90% and temps aren’t usually hitting 70c. Still, my point is 75c is nothing to worry about.

Ok, that does sound odd, because I’ve found the temp to be about 10-20c lower than usage. Usage is still often about 60% to less than 90%, though. Anyway, I’m jealous you of your GPU. Again, I’d say this is nothing to worry about, but you might be correct that there’s something causing temps and usage to be higher than expected.

It’s a good gpu, but you will be more chill with yours because rtx have some optimisation problem sometimes with some game (like here in d2r)

SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 5600 XT
GPU Temperature: 56℃
GPU Memory Junction Temperature: 70℃
60fps capped

I’m worried about the high memory temperature.

Don’t worry, those temps are pretty good in my opinion.

My GPU is on air, but my CPU is AIO and it usually runs about 10-20c cooler than the GPU.

Again, my GPU did get to 75c and the usage is less than 90, closer to 80 or less most of the time. My CPU usage is very low and it’s temp is near idle. I don’t believe 75c is anything to worry about. I have it on a fan curve, instead of max which would drop the temp lower, but I see no need to change it. Temps would have to be in the 80s or higher before the GPU starts to throttle and even then GPUs now can take a lot of heat, they’ll shut down before burning themselves out.

I have an RTX 2070.
When set to highest it was cooking!
Capped framerate to 60
texture to high
anisotropic to 2x
details to medium
aa to smaa

and now it’s running at like 85-95%
much higher in towns than anywhere else

What i have done for me is everything maxed out and set the max temp of my gpu in msi afterburner to 65°C.

Now i’m at 50% usage and not going more than 65°C

Thanks for the tip, it worked perfectly for me too! I set the msi afterburner to 75 degrees Celsius

No need to fix the temp anymore, the problem is fixed from a long time now.

I let msi afterburner to the origin and i never go above 60°C in D2r now. It was nvidia driver, be sure to have the last one.

Now i can go on 90-95% usage and be about 60°C max
