Fix save file size limit

As some of you may know, save file size limit is only 8kb. This isn’t such a big deal for vanilla diablo 2, but for mods, this limit is extremely small. Many mods add new stats or increase old ones, which leads to more save bits in the itemstatcost.txt and bigger save files. This is further increased by extended stash/inventory, new items etc.

Doing this fix would be extremely helpful for the modding community.

Why not use the same trick Blizzard uses in D2R?

D2R additional stash tabs are saved in a different file named “SharedStash(GameMode)” and not the regular character save file.

Still need more space in the default save file? Reduce the initial stash to the size of the original D2 chest and add as many tabs as you want to shared stash OR simply remove /disable the initial stash tab, using only shared stash.

Because the shared stash is obviously shared between all characters, reducing the personal stash leaves you with a lot less room overall especially when using mule characters.

Aye, shared stash is obviously shared between all characters. Yet it’s not part of the regular chracter save file which is the issue stated and the reason it becomes an issue is the fact mods increase inventory and stash and item data size.

Due to the char save file limit mule characters are BS as is cycling thru mules searching for gear. I grew sick and tired of this back in the old D2/LoD days when we had basically unlimited characters / accounts and it has not changed in D2R. After all the game is called Diablo, not HordersRUs.

We also know that in D2R with to increased stash size and char save file limit players actually already LOSE gear when they store a lot of crafted items in their inventory or personal stash. Mods will only make this worse. Therefore give up the personal stash in favor of inventory space, add to shared stash and be done with it.
