Fishymancer dilemma

I am at lv91 and I feel that I wasted my points on golems that I never use. I assigned around 16 points or so to it but I just never use them. I have the token of absolution and I want to use that so I can reallocate that 16 points to bonespear. Is this a good move? Would I need my clay golem for Uber?

Without knowing anything else about your build it’s difficult to say, but I’d suggest keeping at least 1 point in Clay Golem. It’s cheap to cast, doesn’t need to be too pumped up to proc the slow effect, and you never know when that might come in handy.

If you never use it, then it’s only a single skill point. If you do use it occasionally, your +All or +Summon nec skill items should give it enough of a boost to at least be situationally useful.

I do fine with 1 pt in the golems and just expect them not to last. I don’t mind as I usually re-cast them all over the place anyways. He pulls his weight just fine for boss fights which is all I really want him for.

If you have a bunch of + to skills your golem will do fine. You need to consider what you want out of each build though. He will be weaker than he currently is. Does he still slow bosses, yes…Will he ever kill anything…no, does he now?

The crux of this argument is not about the usefulness of the golem but rather golem’s usefulness in relation to the usefulness of the bonespear. I think skeles are enough of a defense so having a golem, I think is quite unnecessary but I may be wrong since I have not done ubers yet. So I need to know whether golems are needed in uber.

True, but it still only amounts to 1 skill point. With that kind of margin I don’t know that you’re going to get huge amounts of utility either way.

As for “needed,” the only thing I’ve seen mentioned as needed for summoners doing ubers is a crushing blow Revive mob. Would the slowdown be helpful, absolutely. Necessary, I don’t know. YouTube has necro Tristram clears to check out. Pick your favorite approach, maybe?

Yeah i saw that. I think revive is a must. So the question boils down to, should the 15 points be allocated to bone spear or revive in order to shorten farm time of ubers.

It really depends on how many + to skills you are running. I’m going to assume if you are ready to do Ubers you should be at +10 -20. In that case a simple 1 to revive would do fine as you will be sporting at least 11 revives. If you did all 15 to revives, you could get 25 revives…your choice if that’s worth it.

By lvl 88 you can max 4 skills, all curses and get 1 pt in all summon skills. Warriors, Mastery, CE are usually 3 of the 4, the last is up to you. I like mages, they work for me. If you like bone spear go for it. I have never found you need more pts in golems, I’ll probably only add to them after lvl 88. Revives, I’m good with a few, 10 seems good to me. I haven’t run Ubers with my necy yet but I don’t see more than 10 revives being needed.

I do:

Skely mastery 20
Raise skelly 20
Corpse explosion 20
Clay golem 20 (thicc boi)
Revive 10

Remaining points into golem mastery 1 points in pre reqs and most curses. All content with ease

Just afk and eat pizza while summons clear whatever screen ur on  with my + skills I have 24 revives. blunderbores with CB kill Ubers quite well. I personally wouldn’t leave home without my clay golem, the boss slow is incredible.

Update.
I respeced my necro and i think its better now. I maxed my bone spear and assigned 1 point to golem. I also respeced my stats. My necro used to die after getting hit twice due to low dex. Some stupid website recommended that necros do not need dex. I think they are idiots. So my block rate is at 60%. I am going to continuously assign points to dex until it hits block rate of 72.

The result is that

  1. i am able to kill bosses faster. Around 30 percent.
  2. I dont die anymore thanks to higher blockrates.
  3. I am not afraid of narrow corridors now
