Did I miss something in latest patch that covered spells? I feel like firewall was melting before the patch and now it’s taking longer to kill Diablo and Andy. I haven’t changed anything… I know there was a “bug fix” that messed with Melee classes, is there something that “fixed” a bug for Firewall? lol
Yeah they fixed the fun bug. The bug that made the game more fun. Back to boring old hammers then

firewall ticked too fast and did too much damage, it was a attack speed bug. They fixed it, so its meh again

I find it hilarious that the entire Diablo fanbase for the most part has firmly stood by the menality that Diablo 2 is the king of the franchise thus far, and Diablo 3 is utter trash. Citing all sorts of supposed meaningful differences from UI, graphics, immersion, customisation, endgame, PvP, story, and yet now that we have a remaster people are saying the “fun” is gone or its now “boring” because an IAS bug was removed.
The gaming community really has no idea what it wants, the complaining is like the ebb and flow of the tide.
Let’s be real, people were hating on the D2 Remaster the second it was announced lol. I know you were talking generally, personally though, I don’t think it’s boring or ruined, I was just wondering if I was tripping or not lol. I understand what you’re saying though.
Overreaction is sadly a thing in every video game community. I think most people just don’t react well to something being nerfed in any regard weather it was bugged before or just too strong to begin with. I understand the frustration though as some builds relied on that IAS bug. I don’t have a melee build yet so I can’t say I noticed much, aside from Firewall just taking longer to kill.
Beyond that my Sorc is still usable as she is. As long as I can still MF what I need I’m good, won’t be using Firewall for much longer once I find some more Lightning gear anyways.
There was a correction in the functioning of the skill. However it still does a lot of damage if you have the torch and at least 8 Gc fire skill. It deals over 26k damage per second, meaning it still melts Boss.
I’ll keep that in mind. No Torch yet, only 1 fire GC at the moment lol.
The torch is the icing on the cake, as each +1 generates a 1k damage increase. Magefist gloves give +1, Gc, jordan, Bk, etc. You spend 60 points on FW, and still have enough to put in blizzard, and mana shield (defensive layer). With warmth and insight, you don’t take HK easy.
I went to the purchase here expecting that money to go to some new content, a refreshed meta, some balance passes. Because that’s basically the minimum we expect out of an arpg release in 20XX, the bare minimum.
The firewall nerf just makes me think they don’t get it. People enjoy strong builds. Diablo 2 needed some variety injected. Removing fun stuff is bad. Save the perfect balance for d3, but leave us some foolishness.
We’ve all had diablo 2 for 20 years, they can make more skills and combos hell viable and not feel bad. It’s ok.
Some skills definitely need to be looked into being buffed/rebalanced. I feel too many “purists” are more vocal though, so many people who play this Remaster don’t want anything at all changed/want them to fix EVERY bug, good or bad, and it’s like…
Go play the original then? And let us have a chance at playing a different style of D2? Some of the bug fixes they’re doing are good, like the Viper bug and Trapsin bug, but getting rid of Ebugging, and this IAS bug that kind of made up for Ebugging being gone imo, after they said on the announcement they wouldn’t be changing any of the old bugs that became PART of the game over time is definitely disappointing…
If they’re going to be trying to remove every bug in the game, including bugs that give the players a slight advantage, they should counter with looking into what skills could use a buff/are under utilized and give people reasons to make NEW builds that haven’t really been made before.
You shouldn’t need a full GG load out to make it viable in p1.
it still rips in P1, it’s just noticeable how much longer Diablo takes to die, more so than Andy. It’s not the end of the world or game breaking, but it is noticeable.

I didn’t even know there was an IAS bug until I read it in the patch notes, and didn’t realize it effected spells too. Clearly I missed that part.
Go find someone else to bug or reply to the people demanding refunds or spamming petitions. When I made this post, there were none about Firewall being effected by the latest patch. You gave your 2 cents, move on.
The ias bug and the change to firewall are actually two separate fixes. And yes the firewall nerf was pretty significant and not just for stacked firewalls vs bosses. I’ll probably still use firewall and orb though
If you’re gonna go low skill point cold it should be orb.
Typically cold/fire is done with lots of points in a fire skill (fire wall, fireball, etc) and 20 in orb and then a handful in cold mastery.
That combo is useful for P1 i find, but once 5 or more people join a game, it just takes too long to kill certain areas/bosses. Then again, no Torch or Anni yet. I want to find more gear for my Smiter or maybe even try a Kicksin, as i’ve seen a couple guides of Kicksin’s still melting Ubers even after the IAS patch. Try something new too, as I’ve always Ubered with Smiters. I def want to give more classes/builds a chance in D2R. So tired of Hammerdins which is why I stuck with my Sorc for mfing, though the Hammerdin is more effective…
