I’m a level 81 blizz sorc with no respecs left, and my gear really really sucks. The only good items I have are Peasants Crown and tal belt. My resistance is all in the negative except for poison and my merc can’t take a hit because his gear sucks, too. What is a quick and cheap way to boost MF so I can find better gear? I think my current MF is around 30-50. That’s it. Nothing good drops for me, even when I solo cows in Hell.
And if you’re wondering, I only got Peasant’s crown and tal belt by being rushed to hell.
4open socket armor with 4 ptopaz = 96 mf
3open socket helm/tiara with 3 ptopaz = 72 mf
That gets you to a very solid amount of mf, for two cheap and easily found items.

The only 4 soc shields I find either require way too much strength to use or are paladin only.
Not shields, body armor
Though you could also use 2 socket shield runeword Rhyme (cheap runes) for another 25 mf.
definitely this. start by making rhyme. it gives resistances, chance to block and other great stats for the low cost.

Go back to nightmare and farm there, even if your gear sucks the level difference will make you a lot tougher on nightmare than hell.
Get some better gear then go back to hell later.
If your merc is lvl 81 mobs will struggle to hit him on nightmare and you can get drops there that will do you for hell.
Check into gambling for a gull dagger (100%mf) you might need to make a fresh character for that and lvl him to lvl 11 or something I cant remember.

Rhyme Shield
3os Ptopaz helm
4os Ptopaz Armor
Reroll Gheed until you can buy some MF gloves and boots.
Run Hell Meph until you find some stuff in the meantime pick up crap and sell it for gold. Use the gold to gamble an mf ammy and rings.
Keep going like this until you can start trading off stuff for low/mid runes and whatnot
and this. nightmare andariel and mephisto and chaos sanctuary is how i grinded my character better. check out rare items too. i used a ton of rare items up until like level 85, they have better stats than a lot of low-mid uniques.
yeh rares just like the good old days.

I’ve still got a guy wearing nothing other than mf and socketed topaz gear but he’s a summon necro not a sorc
Go to charsi and run in and out of town resetting her inventory. You can find up to 35% mf boots that way. If you have some gold saved up, put it in a shared stash tab and make a new character. Level the character to lvl 11 and gamble at gheed for daggers. You can get a gull dagger that way with 100% mf for your weapon switch.

If you don’t have 4os armor/3os shield run Hell Cows until you find the suitable bases. You also find gems.
Take all your Flawless Topaz’z and do not fuse them.
Remake Normal Act 1 and check Blood Moor+Cold Plains for Gem shrines. Much more efficient
i don’t think a lot of people know this. if you find a gem shrine, it upgrades a gem in your inventory to the next level up so if you see a gem shrine, put a flawless topaz in your inventory as your only gem and it will turn it into a perfect topaz. if you don’t have any gem in your inventory it will just drop a random, low quality gem
Go to Nightmare and farm Andy, Meph, Chaos. You will get gear.
Maybe a rabbit’s foot? Or, a lucky piece of clothing? But, really, magicfind is chance. Killing faster increases the probability of something dropping. As runes are not dependent of mf %, I’d concentrate on kill speed and hit the level 85 areas. If you don’t like runes, trade em for endgame items. A quick google search gets you a list of all the area levels.
