In classic it happened when you tried to create games too quickly, join too quickly, or join one that had just closed. Not sure if that’s the issue here or if it’s something else.

Don’t create new games every minute, I can’t even remember when I got that error last time.
Yeah I quit for a while because it was unplayable with this.
Recently I have not gotten it at all though. At release they removed all limits.
You can make any amount of games you want and should not get errors
That’s funny, today I loged in today and was welcomed with 3 “Failed to Join Game” in a row.
So I don’t think the issue is making too many games too quickly.

I agree. First login of the day, and I got failed to join today. Then three more times before I could create a game. Finally I got in and only one more fail since, and I run several bosses per game, so it is not too quick.
This was not an issue for me until D4 launched, and it has been a PITA ever since.

for the first time ever. even sc2 servers are lagging, i’ll get 160 ping to US EAST… normally used to be 50-90 ping.
they’ve either downgraded… or… i don’t know, something isn’t working right and they aren’t even looking into it. but this isn’t normal.
I have no problems creating a game. However, I do make some runs from time to time. The servers for me, seems to work fine.
This is a problem for me to. Sometimes it happens when I first open D2r and it happens several times in a row. There doesn’t seem to be correlation between how quickly I make games and how often they fail to create.

About %50 of my games fail to create. Been a month or more like this.
Definitely a server-side problem. Which of the servers being the problem is unknown. Could be the game creation server (if no game, can’t join, so “failed to join game” error), or it could be the software that actually creates your character in the new game (multiple reasons for failure are possible here).
I see this error several times daily. It only occurs (for me, anyway) when creating a solo game, so there is no problem with conflicts of other people joining the same game, etc. Which only leaves the servers as the cause of failure.

Yeah it’s random, I created 4 games as posting this today and the second one failed.
They literally said that will not be a problem.
Also, you are conflating classic with legacy…
Classic = Diablo 2 without Expansion
Legacy = Diablo 2 before Diablo 2: Resurrected.

By “solo” do you mean the “quick join” option? I see it extensively when making games using “lobby” function, both public and passworded. Sometimes I can join the game later, ie the game successfully is made, and exists, I just failed to join it when I created it (will get error game name exists when I try to create again), and sometimes it doesn’t get created (doesn’t exist if I try to switch to join, doesn’t tell me it exists if I try to create again).
It’s happening 2 games in a row tonight.
