I am writing to report a persistent “Failed to Authenticate” error on my Diablo II: Resurrected account that has lasted for over 7 days. My transaction history shows the game license as “Complete,” but I am unable to access online play.
Troubleshooting Already Completed (No Resolution):
Cache Wipe: Deleted %ProgramData%\Blizzard Entertainment and %LocalAppData%\Battle.net folders.
Manual File Cleanup: Manually deleted the “Data” folder and performed a full Scan and Repair.
Clean Install: Performed a full uninstall/reinstall of the Battle.net client and D2R.
Region Handshake: Attempted to log in via Asia and Europe regions; the error persists across all realms.
Network/Security: Verified no firewall or antivirus interference; tested on an alternate network/mobile hotspot with no success.
Analysis:
Since I have performed all client-side fixes, this appears to be a server-side authentication loop or a “stuck session” specific to my account entitlement following the recent March 10th hotfix.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem ?
i have a solution to your problem.. as this is 100% the case of: gett better quality internet…
i don’t meant the bandwith but no packet loss and no jitter, theese two thinhs are the problem with game creation and joining on battlenet.. as d2r same as d2 has zero countermeasures to combat poor conection.. this game requires litrally class B internet as a bare minimum, and handles ok only on class A internet.
If you use classes to classify internet, then I have class S, wired internet. So this is not the case. And what does it have to do with “after the patch” ?
it’s not the Diablo tier system i refer to but internet tier system. where A is the best..
wierd iternet means little it can still be bad, because of some internet knots inbetween Your ISP and Blizz servers do yourself a favour and do a winMTR test in a loop for a couple of hours, with D2R server IP as destination and look up the results.. if you have lost packets anywhere inbetween this means bad internet
and don’t look at me i have class B internet while being on FTTH optic fiber, and ethernet connection to a gaming router, and still the latency is class B, no lost packets tho..
This problem is definitely on Blizzard’s end. I too have this issue and their support “bot” is worthless - it cannot even read the support requests.
I have multiple battle.net Diablo 2 Resurrected accounts which I use on Nintendo Switch as well as on PC. I can access them fine from Nintendo Switch but if I try to run the one I want to on my PC, it gives me this authentication error.
Thing is, all these reports of what to do to fix the issue (things like reinstall, fix game files, choose region, fix firewall, internet is the problem, etc. etc.) - they are all DEMONSTRABLY false.
If I use battle.net account A, I can launch and play the game fine. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
If I use battle.net account B, I fail to connect to play online EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Same computer. Same internet, same firewall.
Worse, if I use this “problematic” Battle.net account B on a Nintendo Switch? It works every single time.
Something is wrong on Blizzard’s side and they need to fix it.
