Failed to authenticate / Cannot connect to server (Resolved - Fix updated in my response )

Hi -

I’m getting the Failed to authenticate / Cannot connect to server error message.
Before, I was able to quit and log back in, then connect with few issues. However, now I cannot connect at all. (Preettyyy frustrating)

Am I the only one? Is this due to the upcoming ladder reset?

Let me know if anyone else has similar issues
or more information.

(update) For those interested in a fix for this -

I tried the following (did not work for me):

  • resetting your router (fail)
  • resetting your PC (fail)
  • flushing your IP and renewing your IP (fail)
  • all of the above combined (fail)

The following worked for me:

  1. Quit your application (Blizzard APP + Diablo2)
  2. On the settings gear above your login credentials - switch regions (I chose EU)
  3. log in normally
  4. you should be connected to that region
  5. enter a game
  6. exit the game and application, switch back to your current region, login once again and you should not have any issues connecting.

So far this has worked beautifully for me,
This was a pretty frustrating bug to deal with, with no clear reason or fix; I hope this helps anyone experiencing the same issue.

@Blizzard - you should consider this a general knowledge fix / last resort option when the first 3 troubleshooting issues fail.
