I wrote few posts but i read a lot, sometimes people are against new mechanics because they like classic d2 but, u need to understand that classic is not perfect and the game is unfinished, now i see some people that talked bad things about tz having fun LOL, i think that game need first more qol like loot filter, item stacking, more stash but, what im saying here is that not every new thing in the game will be bad ( if it not broke the game ofc) u just need to give it a chance .
Not against TZ as a whole, but the increased monster levels cause them to be able to drop everything, like 45 life skillers that were very rare because only a few monsters could drop them, now everything in a TZ can drop them if the player is high enough level.
Besides the increased drops I have nothing against TZ, don’t mind the exp increase at higher levels.
But I don’t think many purists are actually playing the game though, people throw the purist word far to often, you don’t like the new runewords your a purist…maybe you just don’t like the new runewords or the powercreep they represent.
I for example would welcome well performed new content, just don’t think they dev’s will do it well and it will likely mean another powercreep to a game that I would like to see made more difficult again instead of easier.
Very true, if you’re against power creep you’re suddenly a purist these days. I’m not against changes, I’m just against half thought out changes. It seems like you have to gobble every change blizzard throws at your no matter how bad to not be a purist. TZ is fine, no one really thought about it but it’s an okay addition. Sunder charms seemed half as sed. TZ was too easy for hammerdins but instead of doing the logical thing and rebalancing hammerdins they give us sunder charms so it would be too easy for everyone. The charms aren’t even balanced across the board, cold is going to work better than the rest. Physical and magic does nothing for the classes that need them. Not that hammerdins needed these in the first place. Okay if you’re going to remove the immunities, you should address the synergy system too. They work off of each other, with no immunities you’ve just removed the reason for hybrid builds. I don’t think you need to be a purist to spot out bad ideas.
Even i was okay with the concept of TZs i just didnt like that the xp they gave made every other form of leveling completely obsolete. At 96+ ur looking at like 12 to 14x faster leveling. Thats TOO much. I always wanted more diverse ways to level and was completely okay with something beating out infinitely repetive baal runs, but thats just like putting a fire cracker in a cat litter box and watching the sh!t show. It was way overtuned. Still is. I actually like TZs. I run them on NL where the game isnt completely screwed. Were not even at a full 4 days in, and ladders almost done for page 1.
True. Majority are loving it. Turns out to be just irrational phobia for change and an emotional response. Can’t wait for more changes such as /player x command, ploot, cheap Teleport/BO runewords (while allowing shapeshifters to teleport), etc.
The “majority” don’t even play D2R anymore. The game sold over 5M units.
The majority quit.
You don’t have to look any further than the forums to see this. There is like a 100 people total still posting here.
Im a purist but I dont remember anyone being against a TZ zone, even I wasnt.Having more areas for farming high level mobs is just a nice change from only a few places and a change of scenery lol.but it didnt change any actual mechanics of the game but they did make a mistake of changing too much jhaerik is right. The purists did warn people would start quitting if they started implementing too much change and they did that and now the games practically dead.Theres been times not a single game in normal or nightmare was on the list in Americas. There was the whole discussion about it goes by “region or location” or whatever it was but if that were tru I wouldnt be able to see games on the Asia server.People trolled me and other purists about changing mechanics of the game and what impact it would have as a whole.
in your opinion but classic and LOD had a very long lifespan.longer than any game Ive ever seen, about 15 years of constant players.People talk about bots, yeah they were around but like 7 years after the game released then they showed up but there were also a bunch of normal players. To put this in perspective before the bots showed up when you logged in it would tell you how many players were on bnet servers and how many were playing Diablo2 and that number when I played and actually even payed attention to was around 200,000 players playing D2 at any given time.and again thats before the bots, there were so many players if you saw a game and accidentally refreshed the list you would never find the game again unless you know the exact name so you could type it in.This game was never going to have a massive amount of players again but I knew if changes came of the mechanics its toast.I was hoping for 1/10th the player base LOD had but that back then was a pipe dream
its done and gone, there chance was not to add mechanics to the game that took it away from classic and LOD, they tried and now lost tons of players. All the purists knew it would happen, got trolled for making comments about it then BAM.dead
They could do something dramatic and bring back d2r lod 1.08/1.09, something like that.
People would come flooding back.
Classic is Classic…nothing to do with D2R. Wish people would understand that.
There can only be one.
If u go to general discussion u will se lots of posts of troll people saying that with tz they can get to lvl 99 in just 1-3 days and posts saying that tz ruined the game, im playing since launch too and i remember old diablo, im against these new charms and i think that what the game need is new qol like loot filter, item stacking and other things, what im saying here is that not everything added ruin the game and people should give one chance for new things ( that not break the game making it very easy ofc).
and some of those posting have said tbat they quit D2R already
Yeah me for one lol. At least the “current” version. I’m playing a “version locked” version offline at this point to avoid this fiesta.
I love change, i just hate making a challenge trivial. Change anything, everything, for whatever reason - but dont make so easy.
Im convinced, if we nerfed all classes a bit, and make the game more challenging. We would all enjoy it more.
To $ell over 5M unit$ and have a majority quit. That’s a great ca$h grab.
Glad players are still supporting Bli$$ard.
I mean have you looked into what they did with Overwatch 2?
They released a patch as a new game, and all the patch did was add 3 heroes, 6 maps, 1 game mode, and remove 5 maps and 1 game mode… and one hero was so bugged he’s been completely disabled.
Oh and they turned a game people paid $30-$40 for into a P2W game and are selling people a battle pass, locking new heroes behind the battlepass, and instead of lootboxes they are selling skins for $10-$20.
Turning a paid title into a F2P that forcing people to pay for any new content… is some shady crap. Currently costs $12,000 to unlock everything in the OW2 cash shop.
Ah, the Hearthstone model.
Some zones are okay for sure. But overall TZ just interrupts. I really wish they put in a better idea, but it is what we have, so when a good TZ pops off I will farm it for sure.
Half those sales are korean botters, the other fraction are previous tou offenders.
#working as intended.
Purist here and having fun.
Solo’d the whole game in first 2 days, only getting stuck in act3 hell with immunes, grouped up for act 3, then went back to solo through act4 and 5 and soloed ancients. I play HC so it’s the best way to stay alive and not get tp pked.
