Which 2H Polearm Weapon is better for Runeword Infinity? Colossus Voulge or Giant Thresher?
From my memory of it, I usually went Colossus Voulge, but if you love scythes, take the Thresher.

Thresher and gt are faster. Cv has more burst. Overall faster = better
Colossus Voulge need str 200, which means your merc at lease lv93 to use it. And currently the str bug on merc not fix yet . U cannot use add str item to make merc equip it.
That’s wrong. Put a helmet or armor with Str on the merc and he can wear the CV fine before 93. Stone or Andy’s are perfectly viable choices for a merc. You can even socket a tal helmet or gaze for the job.

i think CV has most damage over time but i would still go for Thresher or GT, since your merc will leech life faster and thus has more survivability which is most important for merc. You need his damage only if you fight immunes that still cannot be broken by infinity’s aura, other than that, your char’s damage will overweigh anyways

The best of both worlds would be a cryptic axe. Great damage, range, attack speed, and possibly more importantly, the lowered strength required. Now these are much harder to come by, as a socket quest will give it 5 sockets, and since 5 is the max, it’ll be more likely even when using the cube to add sockets (if it follows the original diablo 2 LoD formulae) with ral rune + amn rune + perfect amethyst cubed with the [non socketed and can’t be superior (or inferior, such as “cracked cryptic axe”)] to your CA - but - if you can get 4 sockets on an ethereal CA via cubing, you’ll have arguably the best base available. Even if you happen upon an eth 4os CA (non-cubed, just found as is), it’s definitely worth using - check out the arreat summit website for all information regarding items (Basic items, specifically). My apologies for the length, just trying to be as transparent as possible and provide credible information with sources included.

Eth Thresher imo (what I used) or Eth Giant Thresher if ur richer
i trade a lot of polearm and my big request are eth Eth Giant Thresher 4 socket . good speed -10 good range of 4 , also good min damage 40 , level 85 dont drop everywhere

The key thing here is attack speed of the weapon. GT and Thresher are the only two elite polearms that have the fastest (-10) base speed. This means they hit faster and use their Jab more often than other bases. There are resources online you can look up to see merc attack speed/polearm breakpoints. CV/CAhas a bit more damage but it’s speed to slower so GT wins out. Though it’s probably all about max 5% difference.
Thresher also has very low requirements. GT and CV for example require a lot of strength which might force you to use an Andy’s helm until you’re higher level.
If you want it for your sorc to wear then thresher is really the only option due to low stat requirements.
While we’re on the topic, I’ve noticed that people will attach a lot more value to Giant Threshers compared to regular Threshers. Is that just down to the rarity thing? People just after them for style points (due to GT being TC 87)? Or is there some hidden bonus that I’m unaware of?
GT has more range for players, range is irrelevant to mercs. GT takes more stats to use but for end level mercs is irrelevant. GT speed is identical to thresher but it does have .5 more dps.
