This keeps teleport as oskill, but introdces a negative effect to use it, no shield.
I could get behind a balance change for enigma, but I don’t think moving it to an entirely different slot would be a good idea.
Edit: assuming we are going to do balance changes, personally I hope they keep those on a different server if they do end up going that route.
I’ve been reading through of the Project Diablo 2 stuff today, as I keep contemplating whether or not to give it a try, but I don’t want to burn myself out and spoil myself for D2R. However, I do like the idea that PD2 did with teleport, by making damage suffer for a time period after teleporting.
I saw a suggestion to give it regenerating charges instead of giving the skill entirely. I think that would be ok personally.
If they nerf damage after using it would be a lot worse in pvp but barely affect MFing, I don’t really like that idea.
How exactly do you rebalance a Rune word when the original ones still exist in game?
You would have to do it before game is released.
So played xpac for a long time, like most of us. but basically after 10 years of using enigma on every character it got really old and stale… now ive played classic for many years and all i can say is… runewords were done completely wrong and at this point changing anything about them would make it even worse. i suggest leaving runewords alone as it is a staple for the way xpac is played. i mean theres nothing wrong with change. but this is a remaster not a remake. and i think when people make threads they should be taking that into consideration… its starting to get really old how often these threads are asking to change core mechanics of the game. do your homework before coming here asking for massive changes that just flat out arent gonna happen.

That’s a good point. I guess they could change it on ladder and leave the old ones the same on non ladder like they did with nerfed items in the past.
That would definitely not be ideal though.
Removing enigma removes the entire pvp scene.
Its better to introduce more teleport items so there’s more variety.
Umm no… What’s the point of having it as a 2H staff? 
Sorcs already have innate teleport, what other class is going to use this junk besides elemental Druid? You expect people to keep it on switch and use it?
You might as well just use Spell Steel if you’re gonna do that.
It’s fine the way it is as an armor, it still has some competition against Chains of Honor… If you turn it in to a weapon then CoH will end up being the new meta for the BiS armor for every character and everyone will be wearing both Enigma as a weapon and CoH… that isn’t a rebalance that’s just straight up broken.
This just makes it another teleport staff, you can get them at any vendor once your level is high enough. I honestly would never use it at a sorc, which is the only class I would use a staff on, nor would I waste the high runes for a telly staff. The cost of charges for a telly staff is much cheaper than the runes needed for enigma.

Sarcasm reads poorly in forums. The truth is certain matchups were better in 09, lots remain almost untouched, and some have changed drastically.
I liked pvp in 09 but PvP right now is in a more varied position than 09, and I enjoy it. 1.14 PvP is pretty great.
Jsp has some great svs ladder play, and others as well if ppl would like to join us in d2r ^^
Enigma doesnt need rebalancing or nerfing.
Is it really powerful? Yes. Because Teleport is powerful.
Take away the practicality of enigma, and instead of having 75% Sorceresses, we have 95% sorceresses.
Adding Enigma just leveled the playing field and allowed other classes to compete with Sorceress in the first place.

If ladder seasons are 3 months long, Enigma isn’t going to be an issue in ladder anyways, and Enigma is already established in PvP so it’s fine.
I’d rather not see enigma nerfed. Removing it just damages builds that aren’t sorcs. Coming from a PD2 and PoD player. Blizzard would have to implement new movement skills for chars that don’t have them.
