i have encountered this ladder several times where my es falls off before time (i had 1000+ seconds time) so its like i am pretty obsessive about recasting, so my question is can it fall off before time or am i imagining it… ?
put a timer on your desktop to match your ES cast and play. see if they match up.
i do this with BO sometimes just so i don’t keep farming and have a lil timer up of when i’m gonna need it.
haven’t used it in a while, but it helps.

yea im gonna need to record; honestly im like 99% sure its fallen off early (especially in the tower) so this is an honest question for all es players!
not sure about this but iirc, if your ES reaches exactly zero (e.g. baal fire plus maybe some other attack), it drops/disappears and you will have to recast

I have to add my totally anecdotal experience. I swear I have noticed this exact same thing in D2R, but always end up finishing my runs before I need a recast. However, I SWEAR I’ve noticed if I’m in a game longer for whatever reason, I will recast, and I know I’ve experienced it fall off just a minute or two after the recast which would be impossible if I’m supposed to be good for somewhere around 20 minutes?
I would love to see if this is confirmed. I don’t feel like testing it lol

TL/DR: Issue is the Energy Shield recast doesn’t refresh the skill timer causing Energy Shield to fall off way before anticipated causing potential unexpected death.

Yep… it’s the same with Burst of Speed, Holy Shield, etc… when you cast it, it’s supposed to refresh the duration… but for some reason, in D2R, it doesn’t
