I could see that in dead end zones like caves. Gives an incentive to walk back out instead of portal out and they tend to already have 85 lvl. There should be a reward for clearing those kinds of areas that many people simply skip to boss packs. I don’t see it for general open areas. Hard to get every single monster and you spend too much time in non-confined areas killing worthless level 60 monsters to get a “bonus” zone.
In other words, some places but not everywhere.
You also don’t want to get some self-founder stuck in the middle of a giant map, who is like 65 and clearing just for exp and any drop. Then he’s surrounded by lvl 99 monsters and has to restart to move on to the next zone.
Sure you can be. I clear the cold plains. I’m 65. I don’t have the next waypoint, yet. I can portal to town, but there is no way I can portal back and get to the next zone when it’s packed with 99 monsters. I have to restart the game and fight normal monsters again to go find the next waypoint and now I also know can’t clear these low level areas without getting screwed. When I’m leveling a character I like to do full clears aside from high end zones. The first couple don’t have any gear in a ladder by then. Doesn’t work for me.
Put it in already higher level dead end areas. Otherwise I wouldn’t want it.
Or make it so it can’t be triggered unless you’ve already completed EVERY quest in Hell first. By then you’d have some gear and power. First time through players don’t need that going on.
For this to happen you have to spend like 5-10minutes clearing the cold plain, then wait like 10min, they respawn, take 5-10min to clear it again, then wait another 10min…. And so on like 10 times
And oh you have to constantly die and no pick you corpses otherwise you level up just by clearing the area
You are talking about an impossible scenario
You also talk like if waypoints are hard to get in this game, this is Diablo 2, not an mmo, most wp are like 2-3 minutes a part
If you stay in the same area for 3 hours with 2hours of that just standing there doing nothing
It’s not the mechanics problem
Need I also remind… it full clear… you almost can’t accidentally full clear, and certainly not a couple time in row with messages telling you that you full cleared therefor mobs will be harder next time lol
i mean at that point you might aswell do a map-system… full clear a map, last monster gives you something to cube in town that opens a red portal containing a copy of that map with the changes that you intend. (or just have maps as random drops)
im not a huge fan of maps/rifts, but i guess there is a reason why basically every modern game in the genre uses them
I don’t like the idea of maps in D2 since it doesn’t fix lacklustre areas and D2 is known to have its endgame in the “campaign areas”
Adding maps would remove that
I’d rather have a system that empowers those areas to become more interesting
That’s why I think “mlvl” and “density” buff are important to add in such mechanic that I suggested
Stuff like Tal tombs are sub- optimal now, but clear them a couple of times, they reach alvl85 and grow in density… this can make them even more interesting than chaos and baal farming
The problem with your idea is, that as a highlvl that wants to trigger that, i have to hunt down every last monster of that area. Would be fun for a few times, but that becomes tedious really quick.
So you`d quickly go back to doing your CS runs, because you can do 2-3 of those in the time it takes you to trigger your idea once. Map-systems would cut out that tedious part
Also, a lot of areas are fine if you playtrough solo selffound and dont just do baals → get a rush → baals. Dry hills are great to lvl a weak SSF physical build for example, Far oasis has no fireimmunes and so on.
Yep, and it seems you made the decision to buy a game that you obviously don’t like for the sole purpose of spamming your ideas on the forums all day, every day.
You’re probably not one of them financial type planning folks, are ye’?
I bought a game I love with passion and which was advertised to me as going to have changes and improvements
Why can’t you just ignore posts instead of always trying to derail them from their topic to push you crappy “this is a remaster, stop changes” narrative
“Changes” is a very loose term, which you are taking to the extreme.
If you really loved the game with passion as you said, you would appreciate the game for what it has been. After all, it is this game that led us to where we are today. If we twist and morph it into something that it never was, then the game that brought us here will remain the original game.
No. We already got new 85 areas. They can update a few more. Trying to change the progression areas through x trigger that depends on y trigger only if fuffhhfgbnj trigger happens is just silly.
If you want my advice, Sekscalibure, you need to suggest your ideas for an expansion. That way those who want extreme changes can purchase the expansion, and those who like the game just the way it has been can stand pat.
It’s basically the same game but with a mechanic that already exists, that triggers under certain conditions to expend the playtime and intertainement of the game… it’s simple, faithful and seemless
Also, thinking love is accepting something the way it is and not allowing it to change or evolve is a pretty toxic and degenerate way of approach things
Loving something or somebody is accepting it for what it is but also, mainly, hoping/wishing/wanting it to be the best version of itself it can be
If my wife wants to take a baking class, I won’t be like you spewing venom at her because I want her to stay exactly with the feature/lack there of she has now
That’s the difference between you purists and “improvementists”
Who is “we”? Is that a reference to “Me, myself and I” from your viewpoint?
Evidently you love the game so much that it spawns the desire to keep changing it into something that it’s not. Even as far as wanting blanket changes to the game even for those who are content with the game as it is.
Games that have a monthly subscription offer the level of change you’re seeking… Perhaps WoW or Eve Online would better suit your crave of a constantly evolving game?
Again, your suggestions might be better received if you suggested them for an optional paid game expansion.
