Dynamic scaling for difficulty

They just need a game argument and/or chat command to be able to both set and lock the TZ in local single player. It would be QoL of not having to set the computer clock.

Dynamic scaling or Players X isnā€™t coming so donā€™t ask for it. Thatā€™s the answer to every previous topic on this subject and itā€™s not going to change. The highest Iā€™ve ever gotten was 95 and trust me that was a real and utter slog in the days when getting to 99 were extremely tedious and tiresome. Now with Terror Zones, 99 is definitely within reach. That said, I do wish they would expand Terror Zones from a specific zone to an entire ACT and rotate between the Acts every hour or so. That way everyone wins because there ought to be at least one zone in a given Act where you can comfortably farm and gain XP in as opposed to having wait for it Terrorize an area you can reliably clear. Also with an entire Act Terrorized, maybe people will spend more time in a game than repeatedly doing the Terror Zone over and over.

I can come into your game once in a while and try to pk you while you level up if you want more difficulty

Thatā€™s bad logic though. Hundreds of years ago the answer to every previous topic on the subject of slavery was that it was necessary for business labor and profits. If we collectively continued to accept that answer, weā€™d still have slavery today (and yes I know we actually do still have slavery today, itā€™s a complex issue but my point remains). Instead we chose to abolish slavery in pursuit of something better. Donā€™t just accept ā€œthe answerā€ and ā€œnothing will changeā€ when those things are wrong. Otherwise what are we even doing with our lives? Stand up for whatā€™s good and right and just. Not doing so is how we become truly lost

Sounds like a Tokyo Drift quote from Han.

Itā€™s so easy to obtain 99 now, if you still fail to do it, then you definitely donā€™t deserve a 99 character.

Even if you just join wsk cs and tomb group tz public games, you can achieve 99 in a ladder.
There is no need for loaders or friends etc you donā€™t even have to join a discord or battlenet group to do this. And definitely not p8 or the biggest trash introduced to gaming called dynamic scaling.

Itā€™s not even a topic of ā€œgit gutā€ because you donā€™t need any skill to follow those tz groups and get to 99.

so make your own. People will come. Just this morning - like 3 open games on EU HCL. I start baalruns, by run 2 i have 6 guests in my game

Simply Change another Thing:
Everyone gets His own drops.
So there will be much more group Play and you have more chances become lvl99

Not even neededā€¦ can all D4 fanbois keep their sh1t in that trash game please?

TLDR at the bottom.

By the time you have built a character to the point you decide to chase 99, drops are not important.
The time it takes to pick junk up/ID items, make a decision, possibly go to town to drop in inventory (cause youā€™re full again)ā€¦ just cost you exp, and maybe your players life while not paying attention.
If youā€™re going to chase 99 you really want a character than can handle P8 TZ situations, solo (not destroy it, but, survive it) because there are jack-o-lanterns that set portal traps, abandon the ā€œnewā€ guy in the gameā€¦ ā€œgriefersā€ etc., etcā€¦ and the last thing you want when you are clvl96+ is to die, and not be able to recover your body.

  • Sidebar;
case in point, not that long ago I was in a P8 TZ(lvl96) Baal run with a group that seemed to know each otherā€¦ after a few runs of me joining in - we got to the throne room, and all 7 players took several steps back and one of them said ā€œgo get them Druidā€ (I was playing my WindyZoo Drew)ā€¦ pretty sure, if I had I exited the game and tried joining the next - Iā€™d have been hostiled by the group at a most inopportune moment for not carrying my weight. - when I finally soloā€™d the waves I got a couple kudos, and the Baal kill as well as the remainder of the runs went smooth*

Back on topic:
Dieā€™n at clvl 96+ (depending on how much you play and how fast you kill) can take week(s) to recover (at clvl 98 with a Summon Druid and only playing a few hours here and thereā€¦ monthsā€¦ been there).
So, if you are at the point your character can handle/survive P8 - drops donā€™t mean much during the run to 99.
Sure better/perfect gear is always welcome, but once you decide to run to 99, drops are something to chase later, or, youā€™ve accepted ā€œperfectā€ gear is not required.

TLDRā€¦ drops donā€™t matter once chasing 99.

Are you really comparing a videogame mechanic to slavery

They are giving a RL example why they consider DHā€™s argument a fallacy.
So they are comparing an argument in this videogame mechanic thread to an argment reg. slavery.
(And Iā€™m neither agreeing nor disagreeing with either one, before anyone comes up with a failed interpretation of my post)

Not really. Iā€™m using slavery as an example as to why we shouldnā€™t accept that itā€™s the ā€œanswer to every previous topic on this subject and itā€™s not going to changeā€. If we followed that line of logic, weā€™d still have literal slavery (again thatā€™s not to say we donā€™t have that now anywaysā€¦but that it wouldnā€™t be a protection in the constitutionā€¦the emancipation proclamation would not have been madeā€¦slaves would still be bought and sold for lifeā€¦if we just accepted that it was how it was previously and wasnā€™t going to change)

False equivalence is also a fallacy. It is not an immoral thing for a game developer/designer to stick to their creative vision on a particular aspect of game design, regardless of how well or poorly received it is. Comparing that scenario with being accepting of human rights violations like slavery is just incompatible.

Except it wasnā€™t false equivalence. Which should go without saying? Obviously slavery and something inconsequential like a video game, are not equivalent. I was never saying as such. I used an example to illustrate a point, which was valid. I understand your confusion on the matter though, and I forgive you.

bro i just donā€™t have the time it takes to get there in a ladder, simple as that. iā€™m super casual and therefore i will be punished for it. that is where iā€™m at and that is why i think d2 is not for me anymore. it is what it is i already moved on. iā€™ll check back in a few years if the game isnā€™t completely dead by thenā€¦

Hey, at least you can admit that the goals you are shooting for playing this game donā€™t work with the limited time you have available to play games. Every game is not meant for everyone in some way, shape or form. I hope you find that game that strikes a perfect balance for you.

Iā€™m also a super casual race car driver, but Iā€™m punished by not being allowed to drive in the F1ā€¦.

its 2025 , you say players that play alone are nothing worth than a group playerā€¦
but in 80% there situations group-players created singleplayers.
Whatever
If you dont wanna have a change there is still a option from blizzard to make a Vanilla mode even for d2r. Like d2 and d2 lord.

A good change could beā€¦a cube recipe for crafting jewelsā€¦
amn ral pgem - blue jewel - created a new jewel or example.

If the community would really want a few changes they would fight for itā€¦

Or a Ingame Wiki for Runewords & Recipe would be nice aswellā€¦
Or a Tooltip that shows max rolls that can happenā€¦

You wanna say you dont care about this changes after all?

You must be really make your money with d2r if you dont wanna have changes so hard fight against it.

My highest char was lvl 93, I think it was a Bow Amazon. I usually get level 90-92 chars safely and well.

With a little more agony you can probably reach level 95, after that with even less EXP itā€™s probably just horrible, to put it nicely.

So you donā€™t really get a fully skilled character. I always break all my skills down to level 94, the rest of the skill points are only there for me in theory, as Iā€™m not going to play any higher as it is at the moment.

The way you need 95 at the moment would actually be enough to get to 99, which would still be quite a load.

But Iā€™ve managed for more than 20 years without reaching level 99, including breaks, so itā€™s not the end of the world.

I prefer it that way to getting to maximum level by playing and then itā€™s just getting startedā€¦ Such concepts are all detrimental to RPGsā€¦ A real RPG starts at 1 and always has the journey as its goal. Thatā€™s the only way to satisfy the actual purpose of an RPG, not some sports game garbage at the end of the actual game.
