Hey guys
so i was able to farm a 3socket Dusk Shroud on Act1 Hell dropped by mobs.
i will reserve it for when i will be able to afford Enigma
i tried to farm more so i can use the same type of armor for my other runewords.
but it looks like i was just lucky at that time.
i don’t think i can go any further without upgrading my armor.
Where is the best place to farm Dusk Shroud on Act 1 Hell ?
does armor racks work ?
Everywhere. It’s nothing special. They are quite common - unless you are looking for perfect one.
having trouble finding one again. i tried countess tower, open fields, i tried the same spot where i found it i couldn’t get one anymore T_T
i really like how light it is and the str requirement is low for the DEF it provides.
i think i want to make it a base for my runes.
Try terror zones in NM.
Dusk Shroud, aka the Base or Normal class item(White text) has a Quality or Item Level of 65. For a Monster in the game to have a chance of dropping said item, they must be of equal or greater level to do so. Meaning the earliest Dusk Shroud can start dropping is Act 5 Nightmare in Worldstone Keep. Normally I would recommend Nightmare Cows but the Area Level is only 64 so Dusk Shroud would only drop from Champion or Elite Packs whose levels are +2 and +3 respectively.
However, with the advent of Terror Zones, Monsters in areas that are Terrorized can spawn at a higher level than they normally would. Their levels are scaled by Player Level +2 for Trash, Player Level +4 for Champion packs and Player Level +6 for Unique Packs. On Nightmare Difficulty, they can spawn as high as Level 71 for Normal/Trash, Level 73 for Champion packs and Level 74 for Unique Packs. So, if you farm Nightmare Terror Zones, you should, in time, farm Dusk Shrouds. Armor racks are also solid if an area that is terrorized happens to have them.
As for Sockets, Larzuk will always yield 4 Sockets on Normal Dusk Shrouds. If you want 3 Sockets(for Enigma, Treachery, etc.), you’ll either have to find one with 3 Sockets already or use the Cube recipe and pray it rolls 3 Sockets(1/6 chance for 1-3 Sockets respectively, 3/6 chance for 4 Sockets). Note the Cube recipe only works on non-Superior Armor. If you find Superior Armor, Larzuk is your only recourse so Superior 3-Socket Armor is super rare as a result.
This isn’t true. Monster level doesn’t need to equal or be greater than the item’s quality level to drop it, it depends on the monster’s treasure classes. For example cows are mlvl 81 but can drop sacred armors that are qlvl 85.
As for the OP another option you have is cube repairing a low quality dusk shroud, that lowers the item level to 1. Ilvl of 1 restricts it to 3 sockets max giving you a 4/6 chance of rolling 3 sockets with the cube.
Wow very informative thanks. ill take a look at nightmare zones but i will first need to check the level of maps in nightmare. not planning on moving to hell right away.
A monster can drop base items with qlvls up to mlvl+4, but at a 20% reduced chance per lvl above mlvl. (If the TC is enabled for that monster, of course) That’s why normal cows in hell very rarely drop sacred armors.
Interesting, where’d you source that info out of curiosity?
It was a while ago on the old forums. Some conversation stirred up about items dropping from cows. I think someone claimed Cows can’t drop base sacred armors because of their mlvl being 81. I did search, but my google-fu is unable to find the source. If I recall, it was linking to info on JSP’s forums.
Yeah I know, reasonable doubt if unable to provide proof.
Testing would be time consuming… But a simple test would be to jack the normal cows up to mlvl85, play cows until you find three base sacred armors from normal cows… Repeat three times, record times. Then reduce the mlvl back to 81, then play again until you find three sacred armors from normal cows. Repeat three times, record times. If you’re getting 3 sacred armors @ mlvl 85 in roughly a fifth of the time as mlvl 81, then it likely be true. 
It only applies to base items though. I don’t believe it being socketed, superior or ethereal matters. Uniques and sets of course require mlvl > qlvl.
