Anyone else run into a Durance of Hate Level 2 without a set of stairs down to level 3?
I’m a almost level 91 source. I have killed Meph a lot of times and circled the map over and over and continued to only see the set of stairs back to level 1 and the way point.
It did not spawn a set of stairs down to level 3.
It can in rare instances spawn in the middle of the map and not along the edges. It will always spawn though, so you simply missed it.
Ah - So it can spawn in the middle. I have never seen it there but I did make a few passes across the middle. I did not uncover the complete center though. Those little running dudes still give me issues because I have no damage reduction.
I’ve had instances where the stairs don’t show on my mini map even after exploring the area. I’m usually only looking at the mini map when teleporting around in search of level 3 so I have missed it before.
It’s there, sometimes it doesn’t show up in the minimap.
Remove — made a close shot of one of those, if however its a stair in the middle of a room you won’t even have the gap in the wall on the minimap.

Sometimes the stairs are in the middle or not an edge. It’s rare but has happened to me twice out of a few hundred runs. Kinda funny when it does happen.
It is very rare for it to happen, but it can.
like years ago this happen to me not on durance but with Bhaal, No bhaal throne spawned on the map explored / cleared all of level 3 and such but this was YEARS ago mid-early 2000’s mind you.
No but I’ve definitely seen Durance level 2 generate as a difficult maze before. Sometimes the door/archway leading to a new area blocks the entire area from the minimap. So untill you go through that archway the area won’t show up.
Reason why I never go after Mephisto. Durance map is clunky.
I had a similar thing happen yesterday when I was farming countess. Got to level two in her tower and there was no stairs for level 3. I searched everywhere. Was so weird.
On d2R I found a Catacombs level (either 2 or 3) without a stairs down. I scouted the entire map and sent a pic to blizz, but never heard back from them about it. I think I still have the pic on my phone. I know where the stairs SHOULD have spawned (it was the tile that it spawns in) but the actual stairs weren’t there.
3x right = left, sometimes it circles in stupid ways
