Drop rates revamp

If devs wont bother updating uniques, easiest way is to nerf High Runes drop rates.

Easiest balance change ever.
Less enigmas, less infis, less hotos.
More wizzies, suicide branches, vipers, etc
Less OP damage for casters - which mostly comes from +skill runewords.

No, melee characters depend more on runewords than casters do.

Faith, Fortitude, Grief, Enigma, Dream, BotD, Pride, Last Wish.

Ive just imagined that runewords are unable to make till first char reaches 99. I smiled diabolically

High runes does not drop that often mate… On top of that the problem isn’t for the high rune drop rate… The problem is that some runewords are straight up overtuned. Let’s see - Spirit for example… makes 2 dozens of uniques worthless. What else? HoTo - make a dozen of uniques/sets/rares worthless… I am pretty sure we can come up with a lot more of these… Oh wait… Enigma :smiley: Makes every caster armor useless :smiley:

I think “tuning down” some runewords (grief, enigma, spirit) would be more optimal than adjusting HR drop rates.

They don’t drop that often! It takes like hundreds of hours of gameplay to make an enigma.

Lets not go that way mate. Grief is the only melee runeword that makes physical melee fighters come close to casters, otherwise we would only have hammers, javazons and sorcs all over… like we dont already have them everywhere.

Beside Last Wish which is mostly luxury weapon melees could use CoH or Forti but is only mandatory. Botd in rare cases. Thats 1 to 2 runewords, while casters use like 3-5 + merc as he has to tank alone.
While most casters want to use enigmas, hotos, spirits, cta and also new runewords and making it scarce/luxury will not only force casters to use other equipment but also slow them down.

Tinkering with drop rates of ‘the good stuff’ will have no bearing on the game if there are only two categories of ‘stuff’ in the game.

  • ‘The good stuff’ - runewords, select uniques, select sets
  • ‘Utter and completely useless trash’ - rares, crafts, magic items, sets, anything else.

They need to address the quality of stuff people are likely to find. Nerfing drop rates of ‘the good stuff’ will reset us back to the time where the realms were spammed by neverending stream of botted runes from shady sites.

Or they’ll just kill the game.

I’ve taken into account that they have reworked networking system etc to fix botting.
If so, then runewords will actually be luxury and most of people will stick to their uniques/sets for longer. That makes runs to get slower in farming, seasons to last longer and you wont have end game stuff like enigma, hoto, cta’s 6 in first week or two into the season.

They “fixed” botting many times. Bots are still there - in D2, WoW and just about any other game out there. All that rarity brings in is incentivises it and real money transactions.
