Yep…all I can say is this game is busted, magic and rare dropping from hell Andy and meph…446mf and I’m finding absolutely nothing. From Dec 31 till now I have done 632 runs and still nothing unless you wanna count blackface horror as a drop ( crap )…there needs to be a drop mod made for and 1hr on Sunday and give us a hero editor add on…so we can mess around with build…sure if there was a hero editor and enable you won’t get achievements.
The item generation system is the way it always was. I’ve yet to see anyone official say otherwise.
This may help.
It’s hard to imagine 632 runs of meph/Andy and you’ve found nothing… also there is such thing as having too much MF… try lowering it to like 325-375.
What do you mean too much mf? This can’t be truth right?
You can have too much Magic Find depending on your goals.
The more magic find you have, the more high quality items are likely to drop. Meaning, if you want to find a lower quality item specifically it would be better to keep the pool of possible drops smaller.
If I understand the system correctly (It’s complicated).
It’s important to fully understand the item generation system if you plan to farm items.
- Area Level
- Monster Level
- Treasure Classes
- Magic Find
If you don’t understand those in detail you could waste your time without knowing it.
D2 is like a Swiss watch. You see the arms move, date turn, but underneath? Beautiful complexity and simplicity.
look up how mf curves work. you only want around 200-300 for what you prob want.
try this and tell me if it work , im finding ton of unique in andy hell runs , at 402 mf , lower ur MF closer to the 100th ( 400 in ur case or 500 )
There are no mf breakpoints, 100, 200 etc… As already said in this thread, more mf will always increase the chances of item quality being higher (unique vs set vs rare vs magic). There are terrible diminishing returns though. Above 300 is almost useless. More mf, if it slows down your run rate, almost always results in more time required to find good items. (less runs, but more time spent)
If you’re on single player, up the player settings as high as you can without effecting kill speed. Be aware that drop rates only change on odd player settings, 1,3,5,7.
I saw 2 vex, uncountable lesser runes, enough runes for 2 sanctuary shields, stormshield, lightsaber, tal ammy, magefists, highloards ammy, 5 or more skiller charms, gheeds, ravenfrost, titans revenge, so much more in just a month.
My sorc is fully geared except for soj, and my merc is fully geared, never went above 250 mf.
That’s what I tell people I keep mine at 398 strictly and I find all kinds of stuff from bk and soj to many many gheeds, maras, light saver, 3skill eschutas, war travs… I could certainly continue. My best luck has been between 280 and 300 mf and between 380 and 400 mf.
At one time my sorc not including merc had 760ish mf and I found very little even at Baal. Def want something high 200’s or 300’s but any more than that you will actually notice your drops become so bad. A lot of blue, very few workable white or eth equipment without it being cracked or crude, and even the rares will start to diminish. You know your mf is too high when bosses start dropping stamina potions or just blues.
I don’t know a lot about diablo 2. But 20 years of experimenting and I learned a few ransoms things here and there
I too found 2 vex and limitless other runes. Just found my second vex today looking for a flail for my hoto with my first vex. Not 5 min after I found a amazing sup 4os flail. I been looking for a 4os flail for days now. Been a good day sofar
I found lightsaber and stormshield with probably around 100 mf, on the same group of trash mobs in the pits, this was 2 weeks in or less
All of you make a fair point…I did recently decreased my MF and now I’m finding more gear…I was always told the more MF the better, which is not true…as I did a few runs In Nightmare iirc MF was 284 and found a soj plus many other gear…so yeah 380ish MF is the sweet spot, you do t need any more than that.
Also just wanted to add I play on console and as well single player
Yeah man not to mention ur prob more powerful around that range of my too
Drop rates has always been a RNG thing . I used to play d2 pc back in the day , never remember finding a HR or anything that decent
This time round on D2R ps . Found Soj act 1 hell from Fallen champion , Sur from pindle , Lo in travi and Jah in chaos !!
Havent found anything worthwhile in a good couple weeks …
Are u really running these areas for long enough either ?
I mean realistically you need to run these areas for at least 8 hours + on average to find a HR according to stats .
Just hang in there and be patient !
I just wanted to give a heads up rune drops are not affected by magic find.
Lol another victim to too much MF lol
You want as much magic find as you can have without reducing your power of killing monsters. RNG will always be a factor no matter if you have 10 MF or 1000 MF.
You can have too much mf for certain drops.
