When I played the original Diablo 2, I always played in single player mode, and my recollection is that I did defeat Uber Diablo to get the Annihilus Charm. Of course this was over 10 years ago and I might be mistaken. The google searches I have done seem to imply that Uber Diablo only spawns in an Online game, is this correct?
Uber Diablo will spawn when you sell 1 stone of jordan to any vendor for offline single player.
Online mode will cost a range of 75 - 125 stone of jordan.
It’s diablo clone which spawns when you sell a stone of jordan. Ubers can be done in offline.
That’s an ouch. I am still working on finding my first SOJ, this means I need to find 2 or 3.
Each stone of jordan you sell to vendor will spawn 1 Uber Diablo aka Diablo Clone per game.
My memory is faulty but I won’t test killing him back to back in the same game. As in selling one then beating 1st and resell again for another spawn.
My first drop was from Nightmare Andariel. I found a few from Hell during Terror zone trash monsters.
There are 2 names. Uber diablo and diablo clone for selling soj.
Uber version is called Pandemonium Diablo which requires keys. Not sure why you mentioned him. This will confuse OP.
While it has already been answered (yes, it can spawn in offline mode via SOJ selling to vendor), note there is a difference between Diablo Clone and Uber Diablo. Sometimes people mistakenly call Diablo Clone (often referred to as DClone) Uber Diablo, but Uber Diablo is located in the Pandemonium Event and is a little bit (not much) more difficult. Diablo Clone is rather easy, once you spawn it. Best of luck on your adventure, I hope you get some SOJs. People who call DClone by the incorrect name, Uber Diablo, do indeed create confusion.
All the research I have done indicates that NM Andy is the most likely place to get an SOJ drop, so that is my current mission. I have this question, after the first SOJ, is it better to wear it, or sell it to go after an Annihilus?
Just to correct you.
Dclone/ diablo clone or Uber Diablo is the same monster.
The one in Uber Tristram is called Pandemonium Diablo.
It really depends on your character build.
For example. If I’m running melee. Soj is useless. I’m sure you know that.
Of course you can share between all characters with the Anni. Just not the same with Soj. That is my option.
Just make sure you are able to tank and kill him for the Anni.
Most communities, such as on Discord, never refer to DClone as Uber Diablo other than new players. Uber bosses appear in Uber Tristram, outside of Uber Tristram it is not an Uber boss. I have seen much confusion from calling DClone Uber Diablo. Just to correct you
Technically speaking you are correct, NM Andy indeed has the highest drop percentage but I have found quite a few outside of NM Andy. If you’re mostly already geared for Hell, farming NM Andy has poor drops, for the most part, outside of the SoJ chance. I’ve found most of mine in Hell Chaos runs, to be honest, along with a lot of far better drops that can’t drop from NM Andy.
I’m not here to discuss off topic stuff. No need to reply me going forward.
You can continue to “try” and educate me.
All the top Discord servers have trackers and chat channels dedicated to DClone spawns… These are titled DClone trackers and DClone chats, none of them call it Uber Diablo. The top streamers who are the ones typically spawning also refer to it as DClone, and never Uber Diablo. This is enough proof for me and I don’t have anything else to say other than it’s ok to be wrong sometimes.
It is good information for the OP to have, in case they want to ask another question in regards to this topic, it’s really not off topic. It should help reduce confusion when referring to it in the correct way. Either way the OP has their answer and can choose to use correct terminology if they want. Happy hunting, hope you find whatever items you’re looking for and get whatever exp you need with as few deaths as possible (or none if you play HC)
I tried NM and path, was not worth it. Not sure who tested this (Regular Schmuck?!) but it is very consistent, out of 100 unique rings, 3 were SOJ, but to get 100 unique rings, you need zillions of boring kills and get nothing else along the way.
I keep telling everyone Travincal is the place. I lost all my characters early Oct, restarted everything about 6 weeks ago and I already farmed out 1LO, 2BER, 1VEX, 2Maras, 1 SOJ just to name the top drops but along the way, got heaps of gold for gambling, charms and other good gear. All you need is a hammerdin, players 1, and some MF. I only run Trav for 1 hour every day (40-50runs/day)…
I thought I got lucky with my previous characters but since the restart, I can say Trav is consistently the best place along with LK. Funny thing is, I hardly see sunders and I have yet to find a single eth elite polearm, any kind with or without sockets.
And at last but least, SOJ vs ANNI is a no brainer. SOJ only gives you extra mana what I only found useful for energy shield based sorceress. ANNI gives you the same extra skill, but with attributes, res and exp bonus without occupying a ring slot.
Thanks, you convinced me. To me it was always a trade off between a bird in hand vs one in the bush. Wearing the SOJ immediately gives the benefit of the +1 skill which is the most important thing I am chasing. I am actually close to the ultimate Hammerdin build, needing a Mara, SOJ, and Wedding band for the additional skill points, and an Enigma (which could take a while). At level 90, my damage is around 8K, but each additional skill point increases that exponentially.
I toggle between a MF armor for farming with +110% MF but leaving me at 75% resistances, and an armor that increases max resistances to 90% but no MF. Once the SOJ drops, I don’t anticipate a problem getting the Annihilus.
Dclone is no problem with a hammerdin, I tend to smite the hell out of him but hammers work too.
Not sure what your strategy/build is but 90% res hardly needed anywhere especially for quick clears like players 1 Trav. I have HOTO but I don’t use it, I have wizpike for huge fcr+res and spirit on my hammerdin and it is fine for players 3 too. This hero is so OP that you really don’t need any more power unless you want like players 8 Chaos runs.
If i were you i would respec to fist of heavens. I think it is much better than hammerdin pre enigma, specially on console where fist of heavens auto aims.
With a fohdin you are not locked to concentration aura and can use resist fire for trav runs to keep your mercenary alive. You are also free to use salvation, redemotion, conviction aura etc.
Fohdin blasts the pits, chaos sanctuary, travincal and even worldstone keep (bar some monsters not being undead/demon).
Fohdin has a lot less boss damage than hammers but i read somewere that you want Enigma and runes are mostly dropped from large clusters of monsters. Many of the hammerdin items also work well with fohdin.
In the end it is a game and you should play what you enjoy the most
