Does poison damage stack?

Example of what I mean

Let’s say I’m playing a Novamancer, and i repeatedly cast Poison Nova, does the damage stack?

Poison damage is a little complex but in short poison damage from any source will never stack…

Good read…

Which should have been fixed a long time ago.

Poison damage should be additive, because it struggles too much as is already, with being nullified by mercs and skeletons et cetera.

Poison damage does need to be adjusted somehow but it is a scary balancing game since if they stack, I would imagine pnova would be then become quite OP and any PvP char with a bunch of PDSCs would also get a silly huge boost in damage. If the game could at least guarantee highest damage poison overrides any other sources that would be a good start but with how poison damage is coded I’m not sure it will ever be something the current devs will mess with.

I have to admit that even though i played for several years i never bothered to read up on poison and how it works. I just settled for “it sucks except for early levels with the potions, stopping regeneration and in pits on a necromancer.”

Why did people use to have inventorys full of poison charms? Are those an exception where poison stacks?

Edit: Read that maxroll and i understand the words meaning and all, but i just can’t follow the explanation at all. I am dumb

First off PNova as it currently stands does not suck. May not be S/S+ tier but Trangs nec is very viable and having full end game gear makes pnova a+ tier which is quite acceptable… Even rabies druid with the proper gear has some decent power too. Both strong SSF builds too. Poison jav iirc got buffed in d2r but I haven’t gotten around to testing a new build. Venom on a wwsin is also quite strong…

Full inventory of PDSCs is a PvP thing especially during classic d2 heyday but I’ve seen some since d2r released, mainly bowazons trying to be cancer…one hit, run away until you drop to 1 and then finish you off…
