Does magic find (MF) stack in groups?

Say player A has 200% mf, and player B in the same party (and on the same screen as player A) has 200% mf. When a monster is killed by either player, is mf on the monster item drops affected by 200% or 400% mf?

MF is individual to the player. The only times it stacks is when your merc kills a monster. If he has mf it adds to yours. Does not work the other way around though.

So the mf of the player who made the final blow is all that matters? So even if player A did 90% of the damage, but player B did the final blow only player B’s mf matters? (both in the same party and less than a screen away)

Yes. 20 charactersss

Yup. This is why sometimes people will try to do like 99% damage to a boss then swap to mf weapons on switch and/or have merc with mf gear get the last hit in.

Thanks for the info. Hmm, maybe have a just one player loaded with MF gear making final blows. The rest can dedicate to getting maximum damage output gear then. At least on bosses, doing such on all monsters could be a hassle.

Just make sure the DPS dealers don’t use poison, because if their poison damage saps the last hitpoint, it will be their magic find that counts.

Another way to do it, it’s others using stuff like cb/static field plus survivability and the one with highest mf could invest also in damage. That way the others would make party members impact on overall damage while the killer would have the highest damage output and mf effectively killing everything.

paladins and barbarians can do that job really well with cb and sorc with static field. Other classes can do fine also, the most important stuff often would be:
cb, static field, open wounds and maybe some curse wand or necro to improve the damage of the damage dealer.

If you’re killing bosses, merc would be really bad, while if you’re focusing on named monsters(non-bosses) mercs could be useful if you stack enough damage and mf on it.

Thanks for the advice! Ya, offensive auras, amp damage, enchant, static and all can help without risking making the final blow. Other players and minions could even provide distractions, and defensive auras for the designated MFer.

The question is should magic find stack in some way? Obviously it shouldn’t be the total amount, as numbers could get crazy. Or it could be a flat bonus per party member on top of their amount within 2 screens. It’d give even more reason to party up… And maybe people would even learn how to share with others… Ahahaha lol yeah right. I don’t have that much faith in humanity.

Hahaha, folks mostly share because cultural events. It’s sad but true.

Most folks forget to do good deeds through the year, instead focus on “dates” to it.

If you want to do a good thing there’s no hour, date or location for it. You simply do it, otherwise it’s mostly hypocrisy.

About groups they should revamp the difficulty to make grouping more benefitial and players x less viable. If a character can beat p8 solo, doesn’t make sense to party up with others. Because the fact of less optimization and the random factor that other players would generate in the game or run.

If they don’t address that, folks would keep using public games for their own needs and mess with other folks.

This is really important to address because if youre playing with friends and youre a support for somebody who does not need it just sucks.
MF has to stack in group member same map parties.
Else, few games will exist.
Game becomes poor for the long run. INMO.
