Does firewall still viable?

I didnt use firewall since it was fixed??? still good to kill bosses ?
I am using a nova / es with phoenix and i am thinking in change for a nova / firewall. But i have to say that i really dont like the ES to much, and nova is not that good to kill bosses.
Does anyone have any advise for this build ?

i think in going stats as max life aproach, 105fch and using:
weapon: Eschuta’s Temper or Hoto , Shield: Phoenix
Helm: Griffons , armor: COH
jewelry: Maras and 2 sojs.
Belt: Arach
Glove: Magefist
boots: wartraveler or 10%fhr 3res rare
Lighting skillers and fhr and all res to fix the rest.
Merc: Infinity, Andys and Fortitude. using holy freze or defianse (dont know with one is better).

Can a nova sorc go well witout the ES? should i go max block instead of max health?

------ note after respect few times testing. Some conclusions:
-To get more fron the redemption aura, puting 1 hard point in ES (having 75% absorv) and puting points in vitallity works better then solo energy. Once you restore both mana and health with the aura.

  • max block and max vitality dosent work well. U speed a lot of mana with the novas. So i would say using a least 2k mana. (Mine is 950 vitality and 2250 mana after bo).
  • hoto worked better then schutas.
  • having some life helped to farm in places in act 5 (ball run, d key).
  • using the fire wall fits the build once u using magefist, phoenix and infinity.
  • have 2 skills is more fun to play then solo nova.
  • the best aura to the merc is holy freeze. You lost some corps to redem, but it will help a lot to aim firewall.
  • using extra points in firewall in my case is doing like 6k/sec. So helps the merc to kill imunes and boses (once nova is not that great agains bosses).
  • skllis:
    Light - 20nova, 20 LM, 20 SF, 1 ES, and firewall with the remaining points.

Nope. Nerfed from orbit. Into the ground. Unviable.

Firewall feels plenty powerfull for me … better than hydra

I am playing with nova / firewall a few weeks now. i recomend the build. I rather this way then going only nova and full ES. (go only 1 point in ES and 20 in telek), i am using ~1000 life 2600 mana (i didnt make all the calculations to get a perfect balance, i will problably would need to make a shett on excel and use the solver to get it, but i am realy lazy now).

DarkillerBR, interesting build. Never seen nova/firewall combo before. Two things I like about it:

  1. skills are reached early. I’m not a big fan of builds where most skills are achieved at level 24 or 30. Main reason is I don’t play much in hell. I prefer playing different builds.
  2. The synergies are very usefull: warmth and static field.

Think I’m gonna try it this weekend. The only drawback I see is you have to rely on staves for a low level skill until you reach nova. I wonder if I’ll get ice or fire bolt (I cannot think of a more first world problem).

Hi, i recomend this build i made just as a late game, (the whole build is about using the phoenix shield, if you dont have it, i dont recomend using it).
The tipical nova people using skills like this:
20 nova
20 static
20 light mast
20 telecnesis (for that -25% damage reduction on ES)
20 Energy shield. (this is the diference, i using only 1 point and get 75% damage to mana with the + skills).
and with the hard points i sabe i am using mainly in firewall, just 1 point in warmth and 1 point in fire mastery. and now in lvl 92 i have 6k fire damage.
This worls only with phoenix because 25% of the damage is going to your life and 75% to your mana, so redemption aura revolver both (usually you wont have much life regen so if you dont have phoenix it would be better going max ES to get 95% damage going to mana).

In general:
good stuff about the build:

  • Light Fire and phisical (from merc) damage, so u can kill everything
  • The 2 skills stack damage, you can cast firewall and using nova while firewall do damage, but you will mostly will use on bosses or light imunes.
  • tanky and high damage, and split mana and life also make it possible to farm areas that would be dificult with mana only (ball, d key) and make u resistent to poison that goes direct to your life.
  • fun to play, is good having 2 sorces of damage, because you think ways of using them and dont leave any moster alive.
  • both fire and light get the beneficts of the conviction aura, light get -enemy resist from griffons and firewall from phoenix. so both will do a lot of damage.
  • You solve the bigest problem of a ES nova sorc: killing baal when he curse you. I just tele to a midle distance, and use static → firewall only (you wont cast to much so you wont hurt yourself too much).

bad stuff about the build:

  • expensive
  • you dont have any sorce of Fast hit recolvery, and as 25% of damage goes to your health, you will suffer with it. so you will need 5%fhr/17mana small charms (i am using 42fhr breakpoint), making this build ever more expensive.
