So the question is pretty straight forward.
Can you try some sort of a demo of D2R? Like download it through battle.net app and launch it at least on solo or something?
Not that I am aware.
However, they did have a 66.666% discount sale for D2R in the second half of last month (Feb 2023), so I bought a copy for $14.25 ($13.33 selling price + Internet sales tax). Keep an eye open for the next time they have a similar sale.
Another discount like this probably won’t happen soon
