Does Carbot know more than us?

I have been wondering for a while why the carbot comics have been showing up quite consistently aligned with the latest blizz releases.
Especially the D2LoL series.

Their latest video has been released today and it has a strange date in it. Saying

this saturday
enter the depths of hell
Break the Seals
Slay Diablo
…
This Saturday July 3rd 8 A.M. ET

It also has almost no story at all. So it clearly is either a hoax, a teaser (its also titled “Teaser” or an announcement.

Is there some other release on the 3rd of July or could it possibly be the start of beta?

Well, there are times Blizzard has a contract with one of the content creators to make a video, comic, art piece, cosplay, etc.

Those are usually pretty obvious and Blizz uses them as promotion pieces.

Those same content creators also just do things on their own just like they always have.

Interesting to speculate though - always fun. I also generally like the stuff Carbot does.

The title was announced in the opening ceremony of the developer’s February 2021 annual convention (BlizzCon).

So roughly half a year early.

Blizzard announced that the release would be delayed until January 28, 2020, stating that “as we started approaching the finish line, we felt we’d need a little extra development time for finishing touches”

So in the second case, i would agree that it is most likely an interested fan. But in the case of Diablo 2, he certainly seemed to know something was going on.
He did nothing on diablo before. But then 6 months before the announcement he starts a new series and releases a new episode roughly every 2 weeks. Coincidence or marketing strategy?

Today’s video is just a hype trailer for the regular Saturday video. It’s just the first time he released a ‘trailer’ for it. Of course it is the big Diablo fight this week.

The release is already announced to be on the 23th of September. It would obviously have to be something else.

I’d be good with a Carbot version of D2. Hopefully he will announce that this weekend.

omfg, I would pay so much extra money to blizzard for a quick D2R toggle that rotates to carbot art instantly, like the new graphics to old graphics toggle.

Umm, it’s the finale of Act IV of their series. That’s all. It has nothing to do with D2R. They have started doing DiabLOL (and it is amazing and funny) way back like a year ago with D1. They will likely move on to Act V and then D3.

Umm, it’s literally just a teaser for his take on the D2 Diablo fight. That’s it. There is NOTHING more to dig into here.

Honestly his trailer to new video felt weird to me, like why? Something is going on or he is just very excited for epic video he made and thats why trailer because its diablo himself.

He is obviously teasing the next episode which is the epic diablo fight, the game is called diablo to start with.

I’m sure he was notified the release date(roughly) quite ahead of time so he could time his content like he has so far.

I really like the stuff he releases, so accurate when it comes to D2 :smiley:

I enjoy the SC Remaster Carbots (literally bought SC:R on sale to play the skin) and would like it in D2 as well in, say, 5 years or so.

Actually that does bring a question to mind…Why is it the 1st hero in Diablo I had to thrust the soul stone into his head but the 2nd hero did not unless said soul stone was missing?

According to the diablo wiki

Diablo’s soulstone is a quest item found in the game files, but it’s not used in the actual game.

So it appears to be one of the things that was left on the cutting floor.
