Does anyone know how I can choose the server I want to play?

I need a blizzard, implement some way the player can choose the server they want to connect!
I’m from Brazil, I’m connecting to the server in south america, but there are few active players, I always played on EAST and wanted to play on EAST, like I played on the old D2. Please fix this!
Does anyone know any way to get around this? honestly, I’m about to give up on playing, D2 players are from the US, Brazilians are few!
Can someone help me? plz

The little globe icon next to the play button on the launcher. However there is only the Americas for us.

At the log in screen, before you press “PLAY”, you click on the little globe icon and it lets you select the region you want.

I know friends, but there is only the Americas option there, forcing me to play on my country’s server ( southamerica-east1 (São Paulo) – gs 8), I want an option, that I can choose to play on EAST.

I need play in * us-east (South Carolina) – gs 3

This something a few of us have been trying to figure out since Beta.

D3 has three datacenters that make up the Americas region. You can use a command line argument in the launch to force select the one you want (Brazil, Australia, or US).

D2R does not seem to have those options to force it to a certain data center within the Global Region. Not that any of us know of anyway. That means it is defaulting to the closest data center with lowest ping.

Seriously, I’ve been playing Diablo for years and I’m very discouraged, if this new form of server forces me to play on a BR server, I don’t even feel like playing, the bugs are enough, now this obligation of you not being able to choose the server is the end for me! What’s the fun of you playing on a dead server? by myself? No players? blizzard has to implement this as urgently as possible, as I’m a game addict, I’m not in the mood to play it the way it is!

I played for the last 21 years, on EAST server with varying pings from 170 to 250 and never had problems, I prefer high ping with multiple players, than low ping playing alone!

:cold_sweat:

does that matter at all though? i mean in d2 it did but i always was able to play with people on my friends list no matter what part of the world they were in when i was in d3.

I am just not understanding why picking a datacenter with worse ping would be a good thing if you can play with friends from anywhere so i thought i would ask what the purpose was.

THIS is a very valid complaint. You should never feel isolated in a game with Multiplayer.

Defaulting to your local data center makes sense for game performance (latency), but if you can’t get games, the match making should expand it out to the next nearest datacenter which would be Los Angeles I think. Second to that is Chicago which is where they host the WoW SA folks.

When things settle down this is feedback that needs to be passed on so that you have robust MP capability.

I will say, you are supposed to be able to join friends form your friends list to make a game no matter where they are. I have seen some complaints about that too, but that maybe due to the game join issues right now.

I don’t work for Blizz, but I have added your concerns to my list of things to pass on once the high priority play issues are resolved.

For now, you can switch to EU if you want from the globe selector thing on the launcher…that should maybe give you more of game selection pool? You will have greater lag though.

Thank you very much, friend, for you have more access to blizzard them than any member of this forum!
I’m in hell, my character is fine, but I stopped to notice this detail of the amount of players today, it’s dead, then I started to notice that the same players who played with me 1 day ago, came back to my games ! it even looks like it’s just me and them on the server, very disheartening!

Yeah the social features don’t seem to be as robust as I remember. Hopefully that gets worked on post release.
