Title. I Have a 16 month very busy girl toddler. I Have her alot by myself at home while moms at work. I Dont get involved in quests and avoid Caves and stuff if we are by ourselves cuz she can be very needy sometimes, and If she wants me to play, I Just get off the PC right there and play.
Anyways I find myself at lvl 40 starting Nightmare, I think im abit high lvl to be starting Nightmare, But I find it very relaxing just exploring act 1 open fields just killing stuff

lvl 40 is the perfect level to start NM, I used to do Baal runs to 40 before starting NM.
I have a 9 year old and I’m still dropping what I do to go take care of whatever he wants. Usually it’s hey dad look at my new jump scare.
I have found countess runs nice and short. I also just try to get to the next WP before he calls for something (or worse my wife starts asking why I’m playing.)

i mean that is sorta what you’re indirectly doing when you farm uniques/rares/champions so yes lol
I make sure to clear all the zones. I don’t want to be unprepared for end of act bosses. Sometimes you get loot chests that you would have otherwise skipped
Play it however you want. If it works for you that way, great!
But yeah, people do run things multiple times, for one reason or another. XP and Loot is not mutual exclusive, they usually go hand in hand.
Heh. I got to Act 5 at ~CLv 27 and farmed Eldritch + Shenk until about 39 or so when they stopped giving good EXP. Then I farmed Pindleskin until 43 or so and went on to nuke Baal so I could start farming cows for gems to make blood recipes from. Eldritch + Shenk is good EXP and once you’re in the 30-43 range Pindleskin is also good, fast EXP. Pindle and pals can also drop the Exceptional versions of the typically available items from Normal, including 3 socket crowns.

Toddler squad represent! I am in a very similar position as you OP. At home with lil guy.
I’m in a5 now so its a lot of eldritch/shenk/pindle murder and a countess run while he’s awake. Prior to that is was just leasiurely runs in whatever areas were best.
Any progression I saved for when he cribbed in for the night.
I also start NM At 40. Then do 5 levels per act of NM before hell.
Hardcore! Safety before balls.
Exploring and killing random stuff is the essence of the game.
You would be surprised how many people will put hundreds of hours, and still wont ever step foot in many areas in the game outside of quest levels. Your average person will never visit glacial trail or the palace from act 2.
I do the same, I just kill stuff in act1 hell from bloodmoor to wherever, its fun and sometimes you get cool drops.
