Lets say I want to roll an assasin for some uhhh… roller derby runs?
Do I level a sorc and MF good gear/runes first?
Or do I just level the assasin and hope good gear drops along my journey?
I made a mistake in 1.10 and levelled my favourite character/geared it first(a zealer). Don’t do it. Make an actual mf character that can support the others. The efficiency is really noticeable and adds up substantially over time.
This doesn’t count if you are just playing the game very casually and in single player.

100% Mf character first. This supports your entire operation with beginning, mid, and end game items that are very very unlikely to drop for you during questing.
You will likely have a better experience overall, but honestly, do you. Alot of players dont start sorc and have their plan, and that works for them. Some build a paly, some a zon, others a trap sin, and so on to farm specific areas.
For me I just find having basic items in the tool box or entire sigon set as an example, for Normal, is much more enjoyable.
Protip: Might want to spell out MAGIC FINDER, otherwise risk a forum mark for bypassing restricted language censor. 
Everyone has a slightly different strategy for league start.
For me every time, the first two characters are a sorc for boss mf and a light zon for cow clearing. Mf sorc for necessary uniques and cow zon for charm, runes and runeword bases. Generally both are looked at as the fastest clear speeds for both and incredibly cheap to build.
I guess it depends on your characters, some build are good for MF and they dont have to be sorc.

I never bother with a MF sorceress and it doesn’t seem to hold me back enough to justify the time spent gearing up and playing one.
As long as your character isn’t super gear dependent, you don’t need to. Just find a level 85 place in Hell where they do well.
