Do you Host games or Join them?

When you play online: do you usually host games or do you join previously created games?

If it’s a combination of the two; What makes you choose joining verses hosting?

For example,

  • You may want to host: if you have a specific activity in-mind.

  • You may want to join: if your friend has created the game.

I host if I want to boost my characters from Baal runs, and literally nobody else is running Baal, or if I have a trade I’m trying to complete. Otherwise I’ll join someone elses, be it for magic finding, helping someone with a quest they are stuck on, boss xp grinding, etc.

depends on what i’m doing. when i’m looking for a specific type of game, i’ll join one if they are available, but i’m not sitting there refreshing the list waiting for one to pop. if i don’t see a baal run, or a tristram run, or a tomb run as soon as the lobby loads, i’ll make one of my own.

for magic find or farming runs like cows i always make my own and people can join or not.

I hosted a lot of chaos runs the first two months and posted the runs for my community on d2jsp (kept private from d3 scrubs in the pubs). Eventually I had enough fg to chill out a bit with the runs, turn my mf chars into pvp chars with all my fg.
Now i join public melee duel game. Sometimes the game empties long enough that I have to remake it but its almost always up.
