There are runewords, sets, and uniques that always roll fixed attributes whereas there are other pieces that have variable rolls for multiple attributes.
Examples:
Delirium VS Flickering Flame (4-8 resist fire aura, 10-15 enemy fire resist, 50-75 mana)
Destruction VS Grief (30-40 IAS, 340-400 damage, 20-25 enemy poison resist, 10-15 LAEK)
IK armor VS Aldur’s Deception (40-50 light resist, 746-857 defense)
Guillaume’s Face VS Natalya’s helm (10-20 resist all, 20-30 dex, 10-20 str, 195-300 defense)
Veil of Steel VS Nightwing’s Veil (8-15% cold dmg, 10-20 dex, 5-9 cold absorb, 304-352 defense)
Messerschmidt’s Reaver VS Tomb Reaver (200-280 ED, 150-230 dmg to undead, 250-350 AR against undead, 30-50 all resist, 10-14 LAEK, 50-80 MF, 1-3 sockets)
Items like Tomb Reaver are near impossible to roll perfect stats (1 in 5.7 billion) due to the number of variables associated with the item whereas other gear will roll perfectly each time.
There is also the Disparity between the range on similar attribute on gear. For example Oath has an ED range of 130 (210-340) whereas Unbending Will has an ED range of 50 (300-350). Furthermore, Obedience has no ED range and has a fixed value of 370% ED.
Higher variability items also aren’t necessarily better than their fixed attribute counterparts.
Should rolling perfect stats on one item be exponentially more difficult than on another?
