Did my first D2R ubers today

Finally did my first Ubers today with my Hybrid kick assassin that can farm any area of the game as well so it’s a pretty solid and fun build also finished it almost completely today minus some charms

it’s a really fun build and allows you to farm very hard spots for other characters which makes it easy to fund both in farming efficiency and equipment cost

I finished every aspect of the game with her so far beside D clone which is pretty much out of my control, hope I can kill him soon :smiling_imp:

Let me know in the comments if you want me to show my current gear and show you what I started with to farm, which was already pretty strong and I can break down how the character works as well

rather curious what gear you use. I should have my enigma later today. and am relatively experienced with ubers on even hyper cheap smiters. . but never made it on sin

e.g. plan to make a riftsin eventually. which is probably a pretty similar build but different gear. coh/stormlash instead of enigma.

actually it was my first time i did ubers with a rift runeword

ill post some photos of my gear but i seem to have an issue with the game so ill either update the post or make a new one once i get back it

rift by itself I hear is pretty bad for the ubers themselves. . but a small swap for them.

I’d likely find a way to build it with a moderate enigma teleport speed for the mini-ubers. and swap off of enigma for the uber tristram itself. . curious what you killed them with to get a general idea. . i’ve never made a kicksin before, and don’t wanna reroll too many tiems figuring it out lol

this is my entire gear, keep in mind I show my farming gear and I switch into some of my uber items when doing ubers like:

  • Gface instead of andy
  • (I could have used laying of hands instead of my GG assassin gloves, but it worked amazing without switching)
  • M’avina’s belt is amazing for farming but I used goldwrap for a long time and got some amazing drops thanks to it, M’avina’s belt has both mana leach and frw which are both so sweet to have in a maxed out build like that its hard to find a place for mana leach
  • I had a life tap wand on switch I didn’t take a picture of, I have two stormshields with um in them, both for main weapon and switch
  • i started out with a lawbringer instead of rift runeword, it would have been the most amazing assassin weapon, but it has the “rest in piece” mode on it which makes death sentry useless and it has decrep curse proc, which means it will override life tap on ubers, so it’s not a good idea to use it when you have rift( I didn’t manage to take a picture of my lawbringer runeword, there seems to be another server issue now and all of my characters are gone again)
  • I had two of those frw trap skillers on me

I’m sorry but these forums won’t allow me show those picture and you have to copy paste them 1 by 1

also my AR is a lot better and my stats are a bit different when I’m wearing my uber gear, those stats represent my farming build

if you have any question or want my to clarify anything feel free to ask

You really inspired me to play some assassin now. And btw where are your assassin farming spots, since you cant teleport like sorc in the beginning

You aren’t suppose to be doing that!

Glad to hear that, hey hybrid builds are fairly underrated, she also can smoke normal and nightmare using pure fire sentry build and then switch later

when I got to hell for the first time with her I started farming countess before finishing hell, in about a 100 runs you should get at least 1 lem rune, in my case I found a lot of fal runes and an um rune

you need at least 3 lem runes for her build:

  • one for treachery most important item
  • second for your lawbringer runeword which will add a lot of damage
  • and third(you are doing this one last because you might still be low level and need to have the right stats) for upping your boots, you will probably will have to use what you can find, but almost no one sees the item “goblin’s toe” as something expansive so you can usually get it by trading something cheap for them

my focus is getting those 3 items and 3 lem runes for them of course

thing is countess drops so many runes in 100 runs ( I didn’t even do those 100 runs! I did much less) so I sold “spirit packs” to people early on, that is the runes needed for making the spirit runeword

after all that I finished the game and farmed a bit of cows, you can do that by grouping a big herd of cows killing one and then using death sentry and they all die in one moment, I farmed bases and monarch and found some really expansive ones (cows are less efficient I’ll say but it was fun)

I also got an ist from the hellforge so that was really good for progress, so after I was geared a bit I switched to the main farming spot for this character

Nilhathak runs!
This area is really hard for a lot of characters, really though mobs, some people get lost there although if you know the layout its really easy to do quick and Nilhathak’s corps explosion make it very hard to farm for other characters without dying from time to time
but for you?

nah you just kill one mob and use corpse explosion yourself to kill him haha

you want to know what the really good part is?

  • Destruction keys are promised to drop from time to time, even if you never get any good drops and your RNG is bad and they are expansive because most people don’t want to do this run

  • nilhathak can drop ANY item in the game ( ), and every charm that drops off of him can have crazy rolls so if you find a charm from him, you keep it and reroll it until you get something worth trading

just yesterday I dropped andy helm and war traveler from him and traded it for my mara 25 res, you can also find really good drops on your way to him, but I didn’t waste too much time on his minions

so you farm him, he has interesting drops and you can always sell or use his Destruction keys, with a setup like mine it’s really fun doing this run, but my explanation is from starting the season, I bet you can just build one right now and start farming right away

also early on in the season or your build try to either get Lava gout gloves, obedience runeword or demonlimb or any type of item that can give you enchant, I saved my demon limb for uber runs because using charges is expansive, but lava gout and obedience are solid options early on, it gives a ton of fire damage to your kicks, but most importantly you got a massive buff to Attack Rating and trust me it’s a considerable amount

here is a basic idea of the character I made before the game launched but you can mix and much a lot, it’s basically the “budget” version of what I did when you start the season:
https://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/6p0106k1

forgot to mention that I was a bit bored and made an amazon and a sorc, I got them both to hell forge and the amazon got me a gul rune and my sorc got me a mal rune, I used the gul rune for making my rift runeword

why not  ?

forgot to answer that part, I got a naj staff from nil runs actually and at the start before I was fully geared I did use teleport without even having enigma with her

right now its more efficient to run because I have a massive amount of FRW
usually in vanilla diablo I made act 1 merc with harmony bow that gave me vigor aura which is worth around 40% frw and I was going really fast with my enigma as well, but I expected them to fix merc auras turning off when merc is too far in D2R but they didn’t so I just ran without a merc

for early assassin ladder their are a lot of options. . He covered the main 2. Nihlathak runs and countess runs

There are other options however, that you can do practically naked. Pindle/shenk/eldritch.

Really the assassin can farm basically anything. You can even teleport staff and moat trick mephisto the same way a sorc can. . a little slower since your running through doors and occasional tele. but you still can. . .

That said I do slightly disagree on the gearing. I don’t wear treachery. . . I go from a stealth directly to a 4ptopaz chest or skullders until enigma. . For me, I dont’ even get rid of stealth until I’m able to trade for a teleport charge amulet, or 1-2 sin tele charge circlet. . the frw on stealth + boots + burst of speed. I can just dodge everything. . and the fcr on stealth + 2 rings. hits the 45 fcr breakpoint for tele staff, so you don’t sit there for an hour casting it, and fail when a mob breathes on you.

that said, if you aren’t comfortable just running past everything, disrupting ranged with cloak of shadows and killing a specific boss/elite? treachery is the better armor for that, and for killing most mobs. stealth is specific to . . well … . being stealthy and running/teleporting past everything to the target. It does take a slight change in the initial build, with 5 points burst of speed for a fast trap lay speed early on. using your 2nd respec after some + skills kick in for burst of speed lvls to get trap lay speed to a good enough level. (lvl 7-8 with a crystal sword I believe)

my first lem rune, goes to treachery still . . . . for my mercenary.

edit: ttps://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/it0106u0 . . this is roughly what I had when early hell. . and it’s what I kept until I got a teleport amulet, skulders chest (or 4 ptopaz), and a spirit monarch. . some of the items like the boots I still have. I dont’ still have the rings so I guessed. prety sure i had lower fire res and higher lightening. . . Optimally i’d have liked a deaths gloves + belt. and that’s what i’ll go with on ladder

with the amount of Frw my assassin has you don’t need teleports or stealth
I tried almost every build possible with a kicker, I have some really interesting ones that have probably expired on the old battle net that I am sure you will love

and this one I would actually recommend to people because it’s fairly easy and straight forward

my assassin is so strong in every possible regard she doesn’t need to waste points on defense skills like mind blast and the like, I wouldn’t put more then one point into burst of speed either

a lot of the guides suggest the same thing you did and it’s ok, but it’s not optimal in my opinion, you could do so much more with these points, and with treachery you max out so many things, it’s literally one of the most badass armors in the game and it works best for an assassin, not to mention how cheap it is to make, I am still using it now on my GG assassin, only upgrades would be fortitude, chains of honor or enigma and still you might be able to say treachery can fight them for that spot

I don’t suggest anyone use stealth when they have access to treachery as an assassin

I say stealth for things like nihlathak runs specifically. . overall use treachery is probably better for sure. . but nihlathak with basic starting gear? and trying to do the runs very quickly (not killing anything). it’s useful to have. I’ve replaced it, and was the first thing to go. but not till I had a safe teleport. .

I do agree that treachery is better in most cases. but nihlathak runs specifically I get more use from stealth early. I just teleport over 1 or 2 specific walls and speed run it in sub 1m with horrid gear. . losing the fcr on teleport, is doable but it’s very risky when taking that aggressive of a run. (gotta love tele staff, at your beloved normal oromus after lvl 20. . buy it between 20-24 and you just gotta check the ones you can’t equip yet. lvl 24 charges)

I do have enigma on my sin now. speed farming nihlathak and countess for keys/runes etc. gave me a large influx of income quickly. since I can do them quite rapidly and effeciently. . None of this 3-4+ minute dkey runs.

Nice work never knew an Assasin could do everything its usually pally that is used.

As others have posted what gear you use?

If you mean me, I made a few posts here showing my gear options

I can go into more detail if you wish, just ask

Is the death sentry reliable enough to do the corpse explosion before nylathak ? im looking for a build that could run him in hardcore and kinda scared to go near nylathak with my barb and sorc :stuck_out_tongue:

it is, it will trigger it a few times before nil will use it himself if you have good positioning he might still not die right away though

BUT and its a big but

it does not always work in your favor and it is very dangerous, there is a really good chance you will die to it a few times, it takes practice to pull off and even when you know what you are doing you can die to him a few times if you are rushing

If you are taking your time and clear the room before you reach him, sure you mess him up 98% of the time as long as you are not standing right on a corpse

I could see that this is a good budget for a very solid build except anni will be the most expensive part. I heard people mention that assassin is one of the safest to play on hardcore.

I do have my orb/fire ball sorc running around in all places but Nilhathak is where I avoid the most, really hard to farm because of his corpse explosion unless I have nature’s peace ring. Not to mention those vipers poison attacks are also frustrating. However, with your in depth guide, I will comeback as an assassin to get my revenge on Nilhathak :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :sunglasses:.

So between Rift vs Lawbringer, which one do you use the most, and in which situation. I notice the Lawbringer have mod

Slain Monsters Rest In Peace

in it which might not be good for death sentry?.

And do you build obedience for your merc or are you using it yourself. Is this your uber weapon?

Yes you are correct, just because of the RIP mod on lawbringer it barely gets any use unless I run into really tough physcial immunes or maps that are covered with undead, you get a massive AoE knockback from that, but in truth once I had my rift I don’t really ever need it, as I stated before, Nothing is really immune to me, even without decrep curse and sanctuary aura from lawbringer, with rift I have high physical, fire, magic, cold, poison and lightning damage, everything I kick dies

my plan was to build obedience for me, not only it’s a solid weapon to use early on and it can also be used as ubers weapon indeed, but I didn’t even make it even though I had everything I needed for it early on because I dropped lava gout even before I needed to make it

those vipers still pack a punch though, I am pretty tanky but I still need to play well when I encounter them

try using “reduced dmg by x” if your going melee into the vipers. . the poison clouds while buggy. are very rapid small ticks. at around 25ish reduced dmg (physical and magical so it has to be flat). they do far less dmg and are much less lethal. can they still kill you? ya very much so. . but their lethality is much lower.

rift dmg is extremely good. I don’t like it for nihlithak. getting in melee with that b*stard is asking to die lol. . if you use “slain monsters rest in piece” you can get up in his face with kicks + rift. but without “slain monsters rest in piece” it’s almost suicidal lol. . either you kill him in 2-3 seconds flat or he blows everythign up on top of you.

if doing nihlithak just get used to going without a mercenary. . even if you bug them the poison from vipers can still kill them. . and merc’s aren’t’ very smart, they will walk straight into the bugged stacked critting poison/physical dmg cloud and fall over flat.

Shadow master does well

as for hardcore? i’d rpactive it on non hardcore first. you will die quite a few times figuring it out. . . and even then idk if i’d wanna do it on hardcore without specific gear (i haven’t died in there in awhile. . but you never know. nhilithak is never 100% safe, those vipers will be sure of that).
