Hi All
I am playing with an attack speed calculator and I have a quick question.
Does the %attack speed modifier work differently when it is on the weapon compared to when it is applied through armor? In Diablo 3 that is how it works, and I thought it did in Diablo 2 as well, but I may be wrong.
Also can we look at this attack speed table for thresher:
|IAS|attack speed [ticks]|attacks per second|
|0|6.5|3.33|
|8|6|3.57|
|22|5.5|3.84|
|42|5|4.16|
|75|4.5|4.54|
|142|4|5|
Is that table going to look different if I put 20% ias from shael in the weapon? Or do I just count that 20% shael the same as the 45% ias we get from treachery and the 35% we might get from the helm?
Thanks

yes and no
it depends
for LoD, the TLDR is that ias on weapon is more desirable and ias on gear is almost meaningless if youre playing with wolf form
for d2r
they changed how wolf spd is calculated

AFAIK the only scenarios where weapon IAS differs from other gear IAS is for both werewolves/werebears and Whirlwind in LoD, but with the 2.4 and 2.4.3 IAS changes to those in D2R that’s no longer the case and thus shouldn’t be any difference between weapon IAS and other gear IAS in any scenario.
In LoD weapon IAS (and the weapon’s WSM) made up the vast majority of shapeshifter breakpoints, other gear IAS only made a small difference at early IAS breakpoints and became completely irrelevant at mid/higher breakpoints.
Also in LoD weapon IAS (and again WSM) is the sole factor for Whirlwind attack speed, other gear IAS nor skill IAS had any effect on it.
