Found Diablo instead of The Countess on my first run to the bottom of The Tower Cellar Level 5. My traps had no effect on him. I have no ability to include a screenshot or link. But I have a couple of me getting trucked by the lizard.
Running into the Diablo Clone is not a bug. It’s a world event.
DClone can spawn instead of any Super Unique monster of the game in hell difficulty if certain conditions are met. He is a LOT tougher and stronger then regular Diablo so trying to fight him with a character that just got to Hell Countess is futile.

Yeah, you ran into diablo clone. It is generally preceded by a message in the chat log saying terror has decended upon sanctuary.
Dclone appears whenever a certain number of Stones of Jordan are sold to vendors. This was designed to clear out the large inventory of duped SoJs in the wild when the event was first created.
