Hi,
What’s the idea of playing the game choosing pre-expansion? No act 5 or something else also?
Hi,
What’s the idea of playing the game choosing pre-expansion? No act 5 or something else also?
Idea is to play old d2 as it used to be before expansion. Well not completely as patch is different but yeah.
Is there a site to see old recipes?
Or a full game in depth description?
I think i played it 20 years ago, but no memories about that. Only thing, that i didn’t have internet and my friend downloaded info about (arreat summit) in diskettes
No charms
No jewels
No runes
No weapon switch
No assassin
No Druid
No a5
No elite items
No merc inventory
and more!
Classic Diablo 2 is harder because there is a lot less “Godly” items.
Wow… no merc inventory. Can’t even imagine that.
Sounds pretty awful
You think that’s bad, wait till you see the stash.
It’s too bad they didn’t make it bigger despite the requests from quite a few Classic players.
The best items are rares. You don’t get showered in stats and + skills and you can’t let a merc do everything for you.
You need to think more and can’t just slap on the same op 0815 uniques like in the ez mode LoD
Yes. The cool thing about classic is, that the rare system has only the original attributes, hence more good rares spawn. You get the rare system as it was INTENDED. You can not play as fast, you have to do more party play, use your skills. As I think about it, I should play classic again.
It is D2 without the new content from Expansion. It is far from how the game “used to be” but it is an enjoyable experience. Besides what people have already mentioned, static on sorc is not capped in nm and hell and whirlwind is one set speed instead of based on your ias. It just has a different feel to it. The one major drawback though is pretty much no stash space and having to mule manually because they think we’re “purists”. Give pre-expansion the shared stash.
It has allot to do with the drop rates, mainly, for unique, rare, and magic items that wouldn’t normally drop as often in LOD.
A great deal of items in LOD were replaced with runes, charms, and new unique items. Unfortunately, the devs forgot to repatch the game with the original drop lists, which would have included some very unique, very powerful, OP items.
Prior to version 1.07, Diablo 2 was a very different game, with much less emphasis on crafting, although, it was a thing. Since there were no runes, you didn’t need a ton of stash to ‘hoard’ items. Many players simply created ‘mules,’ which they used to pickup items that they didn’t need, but my instinct is to, simply, ‘leave them for other players, who need them more than I do.’
The emphasis was on party growth, and diversity in classes, so that the synergy was based on the strengths and weaknesses of individuals, rather than on building a god-like character that could do everything. Thus, if you didn’t need it, you left it on the ground.
I think, most of us Classic players know that, however, there’s still a tendency to hoard items for friends, who might need them later. It was a very different game, in that it was much harder to advance, without skill synergies. An Unique item could be a game changer in that regard, giving a character a huge advantage, that couldn’t otherwise be obtained through careful skill expenditure.
My personal feeling is that, being a much simpler game, it’s allot easier to enjoy, as my ocd doesn’t kick in quite as much!
