Diablo Immortal is Good. From a 20+ year Diablo fanatic

I saw people hating on Diablo Immortal in the general forums but I cannot post there as I do not own Diablo 2 R on MicroSoft Windows.

Anyways,

Yes it’s true Diablo Immortal is an excellent game. The people were posting the metacritic score “proving” that the game is actually considered bad by “most” people. But the reality is that Metacritic is a very small portion of reviews especially compared to the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.

On the iOS App Store it’s closer to 4.5 out of 5 stars
On the Google Play Store it’s closer to 3.6 stars

Now there are many reviews of people who clearly have not played and are simply upset that it’s a mobile game or that you can pay for a chance at a good item so the reviews are skewed lower but even with those negative “reviews” the game still averages closer to 4 out of 5 stars when you take both the iOS and Google stores and metacritic together.

So yes, Diablo Immortal is worth playing.

No it’s not p2w if you don’t want to pay you do not have to spend any money to enjoy the game you can choose to either spend money or time that’s how the game is designed and I hope diablo 4 is the same way because otherwise it simply encourages people to sell items or accounts on shady websites like what happened for Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 all the time.

The only thing that requires you to pay because you can’t get it otherwise is a resource that upgrades a rank 10 legendary gem but it would take most likely months/years of playing before you’d ever need one of those resources so at that point I think it’s fine for blizzard to ask some money from the player to improve their power considering the game is completely free otherwise (i.e. every thing else in the game is attainable). They could also offer a freebie of this resource once most of the playerbase obtains their first rank 10 legendary gem.

The reality is that people who do not like Diablo Immortal are a very vocal minority and the majority of people in the world are really enjoying Diablo Immortal as it is one of the best games to be released in 2022 and here’s hoping Diablo 4 also comes to mobile and consoles too.

Side note, I love that the p2w store is also tied to RNG, so even the pay2win players are not guaranteed that 5 star legendary gem they desire. It’s essentially like a booster pack which makes it harder for the P2W players to easily “win”.

It’s a gambling machine. Instant 0.

I didn’t read your long drawn out ramblings of a clearly insane person. I came to tell you to seek help find a therapist if you do drugs STOP if you don’t do drugs then you should probably START.

Shame on you.

diablo immortal is a gacha slot machine with its entire progression design focused around making it tedious, laborious, and unrewarding so that you have the maximum motivation to buy shortcuts in the cash shops

those shortcuts are just more slot machines with better odds

the game campaign has huge grind gates where you can’t get to the next story campaign without walking directly into constant ‘use the cash shop’ reminders as you repeat stuff for no real reward except xp to finally unlock the next part of the story. Any gear you get during these grind gates will quickly be worthless as you level up. These gates exist solely to push you into rifts and battle pass activities, both of which scream at you constantly to use the cash shop otherwise your playtime will be very unrewarding

of course the game is p2w, you literally buy gear upgrades from the gems which account for a huge chunk of your power - and they are statistically unavailable to anyone who isn’t using the cash shop

the game is ok until about level 30, then it starts losing momentum and by the endgame it is a disaster with no intention to entertain the player, just to manipulate

the game clearly doesn’t care if you stop playing if you aren’t spending, it only cares about the whales

the game’s maximum enjoyment value is arguably somewhere in the $20 to $150 range for a given player, yet pursuing the endgame through the cash shop costs a minimum of $15,000 and up to $500,000. There isn’t even the slightest attempt to provide player value here, only to gouge whales as hard as humanly possible.

it is yet another blight on bliz’s reputation

It’s a cash grab, worse than the sneaky console d2r scheme was/is now. Unless youre a pc fan of the company, why waste any more money? Discussion should stay in general, case closed.
