A simple solution is to boycott Diablo Immortal, but that takes willpower that an addict doesn’t possess.
pretty high
its absurdly high. so absurd, that it’s the only thing people talk about. i have not heard anything about diablo immortal other than how absurd the monetization is.
It is aimed at adults with disposeable income and credit cards
nice way of saying this game is aimed at adults with either a lot of disposable income (paying an average monthly salary on a mobile game kinda disposable) which clearly is not the “average good earning” adult, or, more likely, this is clearly targeted at borderline gambling addicts, who probably shouldnt spend the amounts needed to be “good” in this game.
i dont understand how you can be so apologetic about it. if not even forum heroes like you resign in protest of such conduct… well…
im all for free choice, people are free to publish games however and people should be free to go into financial ruin if they want to.
but lets call it what it is, shall we.
Hopefully this will be the game that breaks the camels back, and we get some legislation passed against this heavy predation.
people say, oh it’s a phone game so the predatory monetization is ok! but why is that? why does it have to be this way? could they not have made it b2p with cash shop cosmetics and maybe a battle pass on the side? they could have revolutionized the market…instead, they doubled down on the p2w and called it a day. blah.
The fact is that the US regulates gambling/casinsos even if only adults are allowed. Loot boxes are a form of gambling. Lotteries must state odds and payouts. Sweepstakes must follow rules/laws/regulations.
There is a reason that D:I is banned in 2 EU countries for everyone including adults.
Should we let tobacco companies sell cigarettes to kids?
On a tangent a bit: The world favours the rich already - what about those that play games to experience a new world where they are King, only to be beaten by the rich again because they have more money.
For some it is an escape, back into poverty.
Also - whats the good reason for it? Other than its a cash cow? Can anyone offer a single good reason for bottomless chance boxes?
This is very true, you can never only blame the leaders, because without the hands to make the product it would not have existed.
The same goes for war, you cannot kill and murder without taking responsibility, that’s not how nature works. That’s why soldiers, after receiving medals, must live a life with nightmares and traumas. All leaders knows this. Everyone who takes part in something must carry the karma that comes with it. And in that regard, action weighs heavier than words.
I get your point and most people gonna say it’s a mobile game but tainting blizzard launcher with that garbage you are %100 right.
No one cares about your fun or agony when you play the game
This is blizzard’s statment on p2w aspect and we are mad about that. If you can’t understand that go away farm your worthless rifts or get owned by whales in pvp and try to have fun.
i have fun at everything i do sir
I’m glad you can have fun with the gameplay, but you need to realize that we are simply standing up for the consumers Blizzard is attempting to fleece for up to six figures with a seriously screwed up monetization system. Las Vegas has to follow gambling laws, but Blizzard gets a free pass because it’s through a mobile game and for in-game items instead of a jackpot of cash.
Its stops at the bottomless chance box. I dont like the thought of any in game shop content, but something you buy is different from something you have a chance of winning. One you buy once, one you can buy forever and still not get what you want.
The only reason you should have a sweaty back when playing Diablo is because in Hardcore you get 1 life - not because your hemorrhaging RL funds.
Send it to every state and federal congressman. This needs to stop, now!
Yes it is. And they will continue to prey until tools stop buying from them, which probably won’t happen.
Just buy games from indie companies that don’t do this, or play older games that are still very enjoyable. My son has been going through a trend of refreshing his old systems and playing the games he has for them that he hasn’t touched in years. Having a blast. Lots of old game that are good aren’t being reproduced on the newer systems, and companies can’t stop you from buying a hard copy of a game that has a cd key.
My son just recently got a band new limited collectors edition of a horror/suspense game he loved that was released around 10 years ago. Brand new, with all the books and extras and other things that actually made collectors editions worth it.
There’s lots of gaming history to explore out there, and we don’t need to sell our souls to the gaming companies to enjoy it. We don’t have to buy the latest and greatest just to enjoy a good game. Just some food for thought.
just dont give the whales the joy comparing them to you
dont play it
Exactly this right here.
So just looked on metacritic … Immoral is down to a player rating of 0.2 and tunneling down! Rated one of the worst of all time, 2nd only to wow.
And saw the youtube video where Senator Ted Cruz wants to talk with Asmogold about Immoral and it’s lootboxes.
Man, imagine that … blizz dug a hole so deep, they may have government regulators knocking at their door!
Couple that with the recent settlements and other outstanding lawsuits against blizz …
How could a gaming company that was so great at one time sink so low so fast? Is management that out of touch with the player base?
When are they going to realize, the players decide what’s in the game and how it works, not the makers.
And that dude on the podcast thing with Cruz is probably the mentality of your average congressman when it comes to video games, with maybe the exception of AOC, who I knew streamed Among Us at some point in time. Hope y’all outraged folk trying to get the government involved doesn’t bite ya in the rear end. Remember, many of these folk blame video games for violence and probably see those that play them, as lazy leeches upon society.
I really don’t care much for Cruz, but at least while he seemed inclined to talk, he seemed a bit reluctant to say that the government had a dog in that fight.
Even Ted Cruz is standing up against Diablo Immoral.
