This puts Battlefront 2 to shame in how much it pushes gambling onto underaged children with a 6 figure price tag to max out your character. The worst part is how so many low IQ people are defending this abomination. You know you failed hard when EA looks like the good guy in comparison.
Edit: We now have a US senator discussing this with a streamer, though I’m sure you aren’t a stranger to Congress calling you out eh Blizzard.

Oh another Diablo Immoral. Blizzard will be mad at you, be warned.
The game is not only free to play, you also get the chance to be free to pay.
If you don´t matter that you will never reach the status of a whale player who pushes tons of money into the game, then all is okay.
I play the game without even the 99cents gadget, so totally free.
I can see how impossible it will be to upgrade all my gems and effect gems to high numbers, but to have fun it is not needed. I managed to get to 60P1 and killed the boss, so now could change difficulty to hell1 or two. Up to now, I had fun to read all the story lines.
So it is not the game what is bad. If you cannot control your wallet, it is you alone and your responsibility for yourself.
Just for info I found more than a dozen of legs and also 2 set items, can use 6 effekt gems at rank2 and all my legs are 4-5. But the gems in the rest of gear is sad and small

Every good online game in the world prevents in game purchases, does not allow for boxing, and has some sort of code of ethics in behaviours. Blizzard have lost the thread.

Diablo Immortal is rated M 17+. It is very much not geared towards children. It explicitly excludes minors.
Blizzard also has Parental Controls parents can set up to prevent a child from using online payments in Blizzard games.
The game does have a lot of monetization, and that is controversial. Some don’t mind, some hate it. Right now a lot of people feel it is heavy handed.
Others just play the free part, have fun, and put it down later.
Really only chiming in here to point out the game is not at all marketed to, or aimed at, children.

Not a bad argument, but if anyone waited to be 18 to watch Terminator 2 i pity them. Infinite money boxes are not playing games and are terrible. Children and adults alike will suffer horribly.
The statistic you will never get is: How many have become homeless due to this technology? There may be other factors, addiction, disability or vulnerability so on so on, but again if the numbers were available i would imagine that it is a very big minority that are suffering.
I for one wont install, due to ethical reasons.

but plese quit whining about it
i play it and don’t spend anything
Either read my thread
or don’t read my thread
but please quit whining about it
I just think being that predatory should be illegal or at least have a warning
Edit: The gameplay itself is very solid but the problem is the monetization being unethical by targeting people with gambling problems.

It is Dr. Smith becoming a Catholic priest and moonlighting as a scout master level of predatory.

Blizzard is so predatory, they just joined NAMBLA.

A Catholic priest and Blizzard took a little boy camping. They had an argument about who gets to molest him first.

Correct. The level of money to have the"best" gear is pretty high. You don’t need it to do most things, but some people have a compulsion to get there.
My main point was not to argue that the MTX was over the top. It is. I wanted to be very sure to clarify that your statement that it was aimed at kids is wrong.
It is aimed at adults with disposeable income and credit cards. Your first statement was just plain wrong. Address the real issue - that people with a desire to be top of the heap, and no ability to monitor money, can get into hot water. That part is real.
Parents not parenting is another issue, but the game is not aimed at kids and Blizz has tools for parents who let their kids play Blizzard games. This applies to Hearthstone card packs and Overwatch loot boxes too. Parents control the money - and need to be careful what kids do.
Blizz does have a refund policy by the way. So some things can be reverted if the parent puts in a request in time. I don’t know how that works on Mobile though. Never played a mobile game so don’t know how markets and refunds work there.

It might not be particularly aimed at them but they don’t feel bad about profiting from it if they are a ok with charging upper middle class salaries to max out a character. Diablo Immoral is just unforgivable with the worst case of p2w that I’ve seen in a long time.

I have no hope for Diablo 4 or any game that is connected to Blizzard South.
Diablo Immoral is just one more game that is trying to normalize ridiculous pricing methods to try and squeeze as much money as possible from players. Here’s to Karma coming for greedy game companies resulting in many lawsuits and bankruptcy.

The official rating doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t want money from anyone younger than what the official rating states. Tobacco companies market to kids in an inexplicit way for example.
I think at least part of the purpose of Immortal was very much intended to introduce a new generation to the franchise that may have not been exposed to it yet.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if the actual rating was in part specifically a legal consideration so they could avoid being sued for marketing a game with a predatory casino hidden inside to minors.
I do agree parents should be using parental controls and kids shouldn’t be allowed to spend a ton of money (or preferably any) on something like D:I.

This topic really highlights that “Values poster” title means valued by Blizzard to shill for them rather than valued by community to post impartial and quality replies

Also, I’m tired of people saying “blame blizzard not the devs, they just made the game, it’s blizzard that monetized it that way”
Meanwhile, where are the devs complaining on how it’s monetized? Oh yeah Lead devs is doubling and tripling down defending the product
Also, devs knew all along what kind of monetisation the game has, they balanced the whole game and mechanics toward P2w
