Diablo Clone Spawning

How does everyone feel about how the current mechanics of DClone spawning are working out?

Seems to me like a licence for anyone with a big enough community to print money and next to impossible for solo or smaller groups to touch independantly. I don’t love this to say the least and I don’t think its great for the games overall health either.

Obviously mechanics haven’t been the focus of the devs lately but I think this is an important topic that needs to be adressed before ladder launch, what does everyone else think?

The item itself, and the IP of game servers for planned spawns, is being sold for real money by certain sites and communities. It needs to be changed.

I think that most of us don’t care.
There is however probably a big group that can’t wait for a unfair advantage.

itd be nice not to need IT knowledge and 3rd parties to play the game

i always wondered why it worked in such a weird way.
it could be convoluted without being straight up stupid lol

i dont have any suggestions tho.

*back then at least “sojs sold to merchants” happened so often that diablo could realistically walk the earth in your game by chance. it happened to me at the time.
now i havnt seen the line even once.

It seems tp me like it was desisgned with the intention that it would spawn for many players other than the sellers as a method to divide the wealth of a few botters, and now it essentially cements their control of the most desired item in game. I’m not sure what the best solution is but needing to watch and hunt IP’s with the constant fear of your walk IP being leaked or sold. It really isn’t fun

So what is the thing that the walking diablo drops ?

Pretty sure this started as a means to reduce the sheer amount of duped SOJs in the game (back when I was playing, “trade” consisted of exchanging items for SOJs and vice versa, rather than runes like it is now).

So yeah, the fact that they kept this system in place for D2R is pretty absurd IMO.

“Annihilus” the small charm with 10-20 all resistance, 10-20 all attributes, 5-10% extra experience, and +1 to all skills.

Yes I remember those days Chochabama.
I traded a legit lance for 40 sojs once. I thought the guy was joking but hastily cleared my inventory to accept them. He was not joking.
After that day I had all the dupes I wanted.

that must be during the short period where Lances were the only exceptional item in the game.

they were very exciting at that point.

spectral shard was seen as good at that point  its been a while.

When D2 first launched you could cast bone walls outside of the town. Run back and heal at Akara, then run back to the bone walls and when they broke they would drop sets and uniques.

Did anyone else get to do that ?

I failed to mention that the all the games being created and trashed to hunt Ip’s would not help the servers, which as we all know haven’t been doing to great lately…

Because the whole system was a weird bandaid fix to uncontrolled botting and duping of SoJs. The system never made sense in a legit economy.

Another tidbit is that the current system incentivises botting due to needing so many god damnned soj’s.

Can i get a link to the current mechanics please? Havent been paying attention.

Same as the old mechanics, sell 75-125 stones of jordan to spawn Diablo Clone across all games being played on the same IP.

But, we used to have a way to track these ips? Im just assuming this has changed?

We still do with TCPView. It’s a terrible system.

The DClone mechanic is antiquated and should be changed. It was originally implemented to combat dupped sojs. It was a means to get people to sell them to spawn Dclone. This is why its the only item you sell to a vendor you cant buy back. It really doesn’t have a place in the Remastered, as long as they can keep dupping at bay. Unless they simply set it to randomly spawn or link it to Uber spawn on a server. Any group with enough disposable in game currency to be selling off SOJs, at this point in the game, are probably into some other nefarious Diablo 2 activities.
