Diablo 4, the hunt

Look I’m honestly surprised I have to say this.

Old school veteran Diablo 1,2,3, D2:R in my early teens till now. Blah blah blah.

Look at Diablo 2 Resurrected right now Blizzard. Outside of external trading sites ruining the economy and true draw of the game.

This game is about the ITEM hunt. We don’t want to go into Diablo 4 have items spoon-fed to us and play to level a paragon system. I don’t look forward to replayability to grind something that’s inevitable with enough of an experience grind. I play to find random rare items and make odd play styles based on what I have, and FINDING the items is most of the fun. Sure add some convenient systems, different skill works and some form of paragon, but keep the base game as close to the best of Diablo 2 as doable because it had the recipe right. We’re leveling to easily in DIII and that was what caused Paragon to be what it was in the end it was a damn boring level grind to squeeze a little more out of a skill.

Then there is the community aspect of trading for items, and competing for drops.

Screw the soul bound, screw the auction house, screw the personal drops and no shared drops. Make people have to fight for thier items, market thier wares, communicate, and appreciate it. Build towards thier goals and enjoy the satisfaction when something finally drops.

You’re taking it away when you do what it sounds like you are doing. Diablo IV will have the same problem that Diablo III had. It’s too damn easy to find stuff and items are far less important.

Not excited with the latest presser. Totally missing the point again.

I will not be interested in d4 if it includes that paragon tree.
The main reason to uninstall POE.

may as well load it up with p2w now * shrug *

It does make one question what its purpose is, doesn’t it? Raises more questions than actual answers.

In D3, the “Paragon” system was introduced to expand the game’s replayability beyond the initial level completion… as a means of progression.

If they’re “repeating” that, then why not just expand the level system itself, or why even have a defined level system for progression to begin with? Is it meant to replace “skill trees” to define a system of “progression”, or is it intended to expand the level system beyond game completion? What makes “50” the magic number? Why even stop there, or limit it by a number, and why not just use “Paragon” as the progression system?

A million questions there… I’m just waiting for more information to surface as to the game as a whole before I make a decision, however.

yep.
I would prefer a simple level restriction for each spell and no tree what so-ever.
You know, get level ten, you can learn skill A,B and C. level twenty, you can learn skills D,E, and F.

folks will be spending more time staring at the paragon table rather then clicking demons …

My reaction mirrors GG’s reaction, A combination of Cringe and Meh.

Agreed OP (although I don’t think trade websites are a bad thing as long as Blizz doesn’t create in game trading accommodations).

D4 is probably going to be horrid, and D2R will probably have more players for their ladders than D4 once the hype dies down. D2 had more players than D3 for years, and I wouldn’t be surprised if D2R has more players than D3. That’s the entire reason they stopped showing the amount of active players on D3.

It’s insane to me how badly a company can continue to mess up their games, when they have the perfect template for success – D1 and D2.

Further, they keep losing key employees and creatives working on D4 – how many leads have they had now? 4? 5? It honestly looks like D4 is going to be horrendous.
