I have been loving my time Steam deck with Diablo 2R, since Switch reso and performance was kinda “bad” for me. I love playing D2R booting up to play during my breaks at work. or hotspotting when i commute.
The dev team didn’t really speak about it, and i imagine because its part of the PC ecosystem that they didn’t feel the need to save “native support on Steam OS”. But any of the lords playing on the Closed beta tests, y’all know if it works on Linux/Steam os via wine or just directly with a proton layer ? I’m on the fence of preordering (i do have a gaming PC but tbh i just play more on handheld on my spare time (outside of weekends)
I just got D2R going on my Deck as well using Lutris. The only issue I could think of running D4 on the Deck is the controller support, not so much an issue with the OS. I am fairly certain that D4 is going to have controller support out of the box… Which was my only hang up trying to play D3 on the Deck. D3 PC client doesn’t have controller support, whereas the console client obviously does which is why the controller will work on your console but not on the Deck - because you’re running the PC version.
