The image says a lot and people need to look at it because with all my posts provide an honest perspective that reveals broken and missing archetypes. (A lot of missed opportunity and unnecessary broken symmetry)
And we are given the impression that Diablo 2 was the best there ever was? If so then how bad is Diablo 3 and beyond? How convenient of companies to come in and set the standard of greatness with garbage.
The only archetypes in an arpg are: melee, caster, ranged (usually through bows and crossbows, but can also be pistols, see grim dawn & torchlight).
There’s no such thing as tank in arpgs, neither there should be since arpgs =/= mmorpgs, that simple.
It’s amazing to me how you want to dig up supposed spam in order to re spam it, yet still not criticize nor contribute to the point.
While the baseball diamond structure still could be of use for figuring out at least 1 additional hero not in the game if the Necromancer is “that far out” of a hero comparatively. That simple.
To be fair, if I had only sought after 1 inspired structure of reference from the world, it would be very limiting. And I think that by the combination of the structures I’ve gone with it has provided a solid enough conviction about where the nature of D2 stands to where it could easily end up in positive advancement.
Looks like some kind of satanic pseudo science. I kinda like it but next time use a better colour theme and exocet font for a more immersive experience.
You know Zax, I’m going to have to personally thank you for bringing back up the Diablo 2 baseball diamond structure comparison because I went back and touched it up and remembered that it did a particularly good job of putting the unique situation of the Barbarian and the Necromancer in to perspective. And now we can understand how they may have been conceived as super heroes in their own way.

I like how it shows that there might be 3 missing heroes rather than 2 in a very clear sense.
I think it nails the “all in one” concept in the soloist column, but overall I think it fails at properly classifying the Necromancer and the Assassin as Mage and Warrior.
Also, the Barbarian isn’t in a league of his own just because he is “all in one”. That’s mostly because he is Support and Soloist in one as I have shown in a pervious image. When I say “all in one” I mean to say “politically divided” between mage/warrior, melee/missile.

and the necromancer as mostly a soloist

It’s their soloing aspects that make them go above and beyond but it’s the pseudo supporting combo with that really takes it to the next level.
Anyway, while I think that the perspective is a nice way of looking at it, I don’t think it’s the proper BALANCED way of looking at the game. Which is why I use color wheels for a more pure and balanced picture of what’s going on so long as the concepts are expressed properly.
