Many of the rune words had negative impact on classes.
Does anyone think they should be nerfed or removed?
What are your thoughts and suggestions for these?
Dont wear them then lol
No I dont think so.
I dont think that anything about runes and rune words should be changed.
no, we have too many threads already complaining about enigma. RuneWords created more unique builds/ideas than they killed.
I would like to see more RuneWords including some more attainable mid and lower level ones. One of my favorite options was making RuneWords in white socketed shrunken heads.
What did that do to primary holders of those abilities?
What did barbarian lose, when everyone uses their shouts? What did the paladin lose, when everyone uses their auras? What did the Necromancer lose, when everyone uses their curses? Do the classes even have to invest into them anymore? They can just invest into the synergy and equip them.
Could they have done something different, but comparable?
As a Pally and Necy I can tell you I can do other things, it also showed me who could play the class and who was just trying it out.
As a pally who actually puts at least 1 pt in all aura’s I pay attention to what is happening and what aura will best help the party. If we are running, I’ll drop vigor, if we are fighting Andy I’ll put on cleansing. If it’s after a fight and my mages are spent I’d use mediation and prayer. Dropping down to Duriel, thorns time, fighting some serious LE monsters, I’ve got Lit resistance for everyone. I’ve seen plenty of Pallys who never change their aura no matter what is happening. The Runwords may add one aura or another but a well-played pally did not suffer from haveing a few extra auras floating around. It actually allows a tesladin to use beast and go a bit crazier or a zealot to use doom and rock Fanat and holy freeze and add in Exlie for more defense and excitement!
As a Necy if someone out there wants to start amp damaging everything…great I can have some fun using attract/IM or dim vision. I do these things normally but I can get more interesting things going when I don’t have to worry about one curse or the other. Also you aren’t going to be able to break immunities with a RuneWord…a true necy can.
The RuneWords never made the people who used them better than the actual class at the skill, it just added the skill as an option to have in case there wasn’t a true user of the skill. The Barb will always be better than a sorc using call to arms. She will just be able to use it when there is no barb around. I don’t think too many sorcs were complaining that a Hammerdin decided to telly down to the thrown room…
I’ve also never complained about an Act 2 merc, much less one using insight…that’s coming from the Pally’s perspective.
If you dont like runewords, play classic.
If you dont like specific runewords, dont use them.
Problem solved.
None of these rune words in question were present in LOD for over 2 years after release. What about the majority of players from back in the day who never experienced the miscarriage of balance that was 1.10+ D2?
i also find this fact hilarious. Why nerf a runeword that by itself made tons of builds suddenly viable in both PVM and PVP and made it so you could MF efficiently with ALL 7 classes instead of JUST the sorc? Before enigma you were basically pigeon-holed into rolling an mf sorc every.single.time. because MFing with any other class took 4-5x longer without teleport.
Its not like its even easy to create an enigma. Jah and Ber don’t just rain from the sky. And with a crackdown on bots they won’t be available like candy after a couple months of ladder. And with shorter ladders for D2R many people won’t even get to make an Enigma period. The system is great as-is. Everyone just needs to relax and wait for release.
The drop rates of high runes is so astronomically high that it just makes sense that the high level runewords are extremely OP. And with immunities in hell, even having a character with full runewords doesn’t make you invincible in all scenarios. Thats why the system is perfect. I’ve died dozen if not hundreds of times with enigma, hoto, cta, coh, doom, infinity ect.
You lose more than just runewords with classic.
- No Assassin or Druid
- No Act 5 Content
- No Charms
- No Crafting
- No Set Items
- No Class Items
- No Elite Items
And More.
You don’t get to pick and choose what the D2R devs do and don’t keep in the remaster. Because… its a remaster. Meaning everything stays. No Ploot, no item or skill nerfing, no core changes. They’ve repeated this. If anything, they would give us more runewords, not less. lol
I would rather the 1.09 patch. ( With no core changes )
You don’t get to decide what the D2R dev… oh wait. i already said this.
Luckily they are allowing mods for D2R so you may be able to play 1.09 by yourself on singleplayer with the new graphics.
The game has received balance patches throughout its history. It will hopefully continue to do so. 1.14d is not the best version of Diablo 2: LOD and hopefully the game continues to receive support. The only conceivable reason why people might not want balance patches or itemization tweaks is that it would invalidate certain speedrun records (which are all on 1.13 anyway because Plugy doesn’t use 1.14). It wasn’t that long ago that there were no minions in Uber Tristram, for example. To spend all this time and money creating a game and bringing people back into the fold (many of whom are nostalgic for 1.09 because they played in the first 2 years after release of LOD) and NOT continue to support it with balance and content updates would be a mistake.
yes OR… now stay with me here… OR… other people than yourself have different opinions and don’t agree. Other people want the game unchanged as of the last patch. Not randomly picking an earlier patch and THEN remaking the game. This is a remaster bud, meaning it will NOT get support for more patches or any type of balancing changes. we’ll be lucky to get a buff to the many dead skills, if anything. lol
Who cares that I don’t get to decide.
That won’t change my opinion.
Never cared for Diablo 2 on single player.
I hope that you are wrong. I am looking forward to patch 1.15. It would send a message that this game is still alive and that balance, itemization, and content are being considered and actively developed. Hypothetically if there was a huge patch akin to 1.10 before the announcement of this game that introduced / balanced a bunch of items, changed skill trees, and had new content would you honestly be upset about it? Would you complain that suddenly it got some new builds to puzzle out and dungeons to explore? I can’t understand why people are so attached to 1.14d specifically.
I play Ladder only, Solo only until I complete Hell Difficulty. No trade, no cheat & no carry. Therefore, whenever I plan a new character, I cannot assume which gears will be use, exact some low cost Rune Words such as :-
Honor
Insight
Spirit
So I always hope devs will introduce more power/cost Rune Words, allow me plan more builds without trade/cheat/carry. Not asking for top power without luck/trade because it impact current D2 culture, just want more freedom to build mid level builds
I wanna see more rune words added in Lol with more end game content and GG yellows and blues. while I’m here if they’re gonna shorten seasons I’m gonna need group Mf buff or higher drop rates, Lol
