Diablo 2 Ressurected Terror Zones as endgame

Greetings Horadrims! I hope everyone is well and cozy,

Today I want to share my personal opinion about the current D2R TZ endgame; Because I think people don’t have a proper way of chosing when/where/what to engage with… Specially the people with less hours to play during the day.

I trully hope they add a proper endgame system into D2R. TZs is not the best solution.

They could make maps drop, like scrolls of portal in a diferent collor or some other icon… That you could just go to town and transmute in your cube and would open a map… and they could make tiers… like tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, up to tier 10 or so… starting with tier 1 being a map in monster area lvl 85, and going all the way up to lvl 96…

Each map would have a name and be based on areas of the maps in the acts, they could decide on few maps of tier 1 for example; based on blood moor, outher cloister, pits, cathedral, with a new name than a few tier 2 maps based on arcane sanctuary, ancients tunnels, rocky waste, tombs, etc the maps would drop in acts during hell progression, but only the tier 1 ones.

The higher tiers you would drop inside the tier 1 and you could only open those maps after completing baal in hell. Inside the maps you could only find up to 2 tiers higher than the map you are running. Those maps would also be tradeable.

That type of system allows the players to have a choice on where they want to farm, without need a lucky roll on random tzs… Specially people that only play for few hours a day.
That would also slow down the progression of the players into the level 96 areas… since they’d need to find the maps inside the maps to get there

That way they could balance those maps making the higher tiers a lot harder… without messing up the regular act maps progression balancement.

Best Regards,
Alex

I don’t like the idea of having to farm content I really don’t like to get access to content that I want to play. So I really don’t like anything about your suggestion.

Just activate all tzs and let people choose what they want to play

The path of exile map system is very good (with a few caveats), but I would rather have Diablo 2 try to do a different system rather than copy it.
That being said, I am not a fan of level scaling (I hate it), so I would welcome another system, or an alteration of the current system to allow the removal of level scaling for players like myself that don’t like it.

good idea, op.

welcome to ignored, johnson.

It’s an interesting idea, having not played PoE I’m uninitiated to this. The issue I see is that the volume of TZ runs required to be valuable for those climbing to 99 is quite high, so farming additional lower level content just for access seems like it would be a bit monotonous. The higher tiered maps could allow more hours of unlocking a certain TZ to compensate for this, but I think of how the current TZ system is tied to the server and not to the characters and the dev’s capabilities and willingness to work.

With some tweaks, I think it could be a vast improvement over the current system. Again though, zero faith in Neo-Buzzard to put in the dev time. An easier way to make TZ better IMO would be for the tiered system to be tied to the server; each rotation could have a TZ line built in, starting with low-tier TZ like blood moore and after all champions are eliminated unlocking a higher tier TZ until at the end of the chain you open S-Tier TZ like Chaos and Worldstone. This makes it simple for the devs and addresses the gripe of vastly inferior TZ being served to players with restricted playing windows.

I really appreciate the access to the high level areas, but i extremly dislike beeing forced to play an random area.

That said your suggestions also sounds complicated and messy…

E.g. simply having 3 zones active simultanously would already be an huge improvement without any new items, recipes, …

Random maps, mobs, final boss.

And you forget something, the “Join game” button, te get into party for the maps.
