Diablo 1 Remaster/Remake/Resurrected!

I was at work all day…Did Blizzard make the announcement that they’ve been working on that Diablo 1 remake all the fans have been clamoring for? BLIZZARD!!! The fans want a gall-dang Diablo 1 Resurrected! Make it happen, or else there’s gonna be trouble. And you don’t even want to know what kind of trouble, neither. All I can say is it involves 1 cup of warm water, 1 tennis ball, a length of twine, 1/2 cup of iodized salt and a car battery. You better come correct, Blizzard. If D1R isn’t announced at this year’s Blizzcon then you’re gonna force our hand, and nobody wants that.

People see Diablo 1 far too nostalgic. Back then it had epic atmosphere (well it still does if you can look past the old graphics) and was “something new and exciting”, but if they’d actually put out a remaster people would be done with it very fast.

GoG. It has high resolution option. And I think it was sold to them? Or something like this. So it’s not a Blizz property anymore or what. I’m not shure but read something like this. But they could always buy back, if that’s the case.

Id love it. just with the d2r engine. or maybe an expansion pack for d2r, like more maps you can play, story line, etc. would so love it.

Great post to be honest, but it’s going to be in the rearview mirror in about 1 week…

Man, I remember when I was in 5th grade (2001) and my friends had Diablo 2 and I was still playing Diablo 1

THAT is exactly what I’ve been posting on every forum and youtube video for anyone who would listen! I know they’re never going to remake D1 (they’ve already stated as much), but if they were to implement D1 into D2 as another “event” like the Pandemonium Event where you have to collect a bunch of keys to open a portal that takes you to old Tristram…make it a lvl 85+ thing where you have to run through all 16 of D1’s original dungeons in one sitting, without dying. If you die then you have to restart the entire event. Use uber versions of D1’s bosses, placing 1 in every 4th dungeon…So the Butcher would be on lvl 4, Skeleton King lvl 8, etc…on lvl 16 have players fight 4 ubers…Lazarus, Red Vex, Black Jade and the Double Secret Uber Diablo. Reward players with another unique charm or perhaps a new weapon or item that is class specific but completely random, so even though you defeated Diablo with your Paladin you might receive a unique bow.

Sorry, I know this reply is ridiculously long, but adding D1’s content into D2 as an event or even as an expansion is something I’ve been yelling at people about this whole time! Or instead of what I envision as endgame content, make it an expansion and show players how Tristram met its doom…

lol i had exactly the same idea while fantasizing. that, or maybe make it a mode like classic, d1 or lod. as a standalone game d1 is a bit short. and the engine is just not good.

if they could incorporate diablo 1 items and maps in diablo resurrected, it will be perfect. like the d1 warrior crusader and black knight armors, make them the new base for new uniques and other stuffs

If Blizzard were to ever do a remaster of D1 (which they won’t…they’ve already stated they’re not going to) they would need to add more content instead of just keeping it totally vanilla. They could rework the Hellfire expansion so it is better streamlined to Diablo’s story. Or they could do what was done in the Belzebub mod and re-implement a good percentage of the content that was cut from the final release. I know there are plenty of mods to give me more of that classic Diablo that I wake up in the middle of the night craving, but for some reason I’ve never been able to get into mods; they never feel “official” to me.

HELL YEAH. GIVE ME A BURNING PRIEST IN TOWN. and that island quest. let me finally kill horazon, not just an imposter in d2

but for some reason I’ve never been able to get into mods; they never feel “official” to me.

because alot just arent well made. the modders usually lack the ability to create new assets, are just amateur level designers, are limited of what they can do due to the engine restrictions. etc.

Yes! Give us unique armors that mirror the aesthetics of classic Diablo.

what are you people bablling about there already is a remaster of Diablo 1. It’s called DevilutionX has a pelthora of new functions including newly added 100 pages of shared stash space. I currently play Hellfire version of it at FullHD resolution, but it can be customized. 12 mapable quick cast skill buttons, adria can refill mana, plus works almost on anything Windows, Linux, Android touch devices, and much more hell It’s even ported on an old Amiga 600 HD, designed to work with proper ( VampireII ) expansion card  .
It’s perhaps not 3d but from 1.4.0 runs DX11 natively for graphics.

This is basded on D1 source code, and requires game files from the original Diablo1 and optionally hellfire, in order for the game to run. and there are various speed modes that enable faster in game moovement for both you and the monsters below… and because the game is niche there are no cheating programs for it as of yet. multiplayer works too, has both local TCP/IP, and Zero Tier servers for when you want to play beyond your local area network.

Remaster of diablo 1 wont happen. In fact it already did. By being released on GOG. And gog also did things like adding a wrapper and other things. It runs in HD now…basicly what gog did to it is what we get for its remaster.

Diablo 1 available on GOG.com as more Blizzard classics planned | Metro News

gog remaster is meh, although it’s good they are the legal source for D1 and Hellfire.

I slmply download & install from gog , and apply the nesecaary files to DevilutionX

DevilutionX has what gog version has not. mainly Hellfire Multiplayer mode…
this is kind of tricky to achive without the source code, since Hellfire’s multiplayer enabled executable has only ever been build to run on 16 bit systems, so you can run it if you have 32 bit windows verson but not on 64 bit windows… Dlablo1 is 32 bit and Hellfire only has 32 bit versions without multiplayer support.
that is why DevilutionX is king to play over gog versions, although gog purchase is still required to run DevilutionX.

Thats cuz the gog version is what a true remaster actually is. Everything from assets to code is all original. Where as with D2R 30% of it is a remake.

DevilutionX having used it. Is not actually a remaster of diablo 1. But rather a mod for it Either way its a good addition to D1

Um… perhaps…
either way i’d rather recommend players playing DevilutionX over gog version for a few reasons…

#1 gog remasterred graphis is only a blurred version of the original 640x480 with black boarders on the sides…
#2DevilutionX is beeing under active development on the contrary to gog version.
#3 due to #2 DevilutionX sqashed tons of bugs from the original D1 engine, the code is mainly the same, but it’s a new compliation with further enhancements.

DevilutionX still uses the same graphics for stuff, but it’s zoomed out a bit, and not a “in your face” pixelated blurry screen that gog offers when playing… either way in ordr to play DevilutionX you still need both DevilutionX and gog versions for the game files… so that IP holders get their fee.
