Diablo 1 Remaster when?

Now that this has come and gone, maybe we can do a Diablo 1 remaster? I feel like it’s an underrated game compared to the sequel and could use the love.

Just… don’t add so many changes to it, cool?

I mean… fair. As long as they don’t mess with it too much, it would be okay, I guess.

It would be cool but it’s not gonna happen. It’s just too old and out of date from current gaming trends.

Selling copies is still kind of a thing and stuff like walk speed just ain’t gonna appeal to modern gamers

It’s a great game but let it stay in it’s place in history

GoG allready did it. The rights was sold to them, so ask them if they are planning another.

At very best you will get a d1 type event in d2 like d3 has.

I believe they talked about it before and it wasn’t worth the reward and gog was given the rights to sell it with the unofficial expansion.

I don’t expect that to change but I suppose anything can happen at some point.

I think GoG just has the rights to sell, I didn’t hear anything about them remastering it?

I would be very happy to pay for and play a D1 remaster, but I’m afraid that the market that would be interested in a remastered D1 is too small, I wish that weren’t the case.

That’s true.

It’s a shame, but a man can dream!

Such an epic game. Love talking to all the npc lol. D2 has better mechanic but it dont make you crap your pants like in D1

They have the overlay, they have the assets… Some new models and a few tweaks, a bit of “recycling” from D2:R assets, maybe a bit from D3, (hahah) they’d have it.

I’m a cheapskate… And I’d drop $20 on it. Of course anything Diablo makes $ jump out of my wallet… D:I being the exception of course.

The question is… If it were to come… Are they going to be accused of turning it into D3? :stuck_out_tongue:

They made it work on modern OS and give it a resolution upgrade. And they are the owners yes. You’re just a Google search away, just like me.

Thoug it is truely not a remaster, they have the assets to work with it.

Thanks for the info!

What’s come and gone? D2R is still here and receiving updates.

It’d be cool but there’s not really a market for it, D1 is niche. Best atmosphere of all the Diablo games by far, the visuals and especially the soundtrack is mwah.

There’s the player base, and there are new young players…

Could be a form of “practice” for their development team if (or when) they are idle… Make a quick buck.

I would love to see a diablo 1 remaster. I still play the old one now and again.

Depends on how you define “come and gone”. This latest patch is going to be the nail in the coffin for this game, and that’s why I said that. You may disagree, and you certainly have that right, nor will I say you’re wrong, but it’s just how I view it, personally.

As much as id like a D1 remaster after these patches in D2R Blizzard would again market the game D1R as a remaster and then after release of the game slam the word remake instead of the word remaster.

I think that depends on what they do with it and whether they say it’s a Remaster or a Rework.

I have it on GoG and don’t think it’s actually upgraded graphics at all if it is I am not seeing it :stuck_out_tongue: , just resolution upgrade and made playable on newer OS and option for multiplayer, certainly not a full remaster, then again it costs 10 euros (and often like at this moment on offer for 8 euros).
You can choose between D1 (higher resolution and LAN support), D1 (Classic) and Hellfire (which is automatically with the higher resolution support).

I think this is the key. If they leave it largely untouched, I think the game will stand largely on its own (obviously with updated graphics). It won’t ever be a majorly impactful game selling millions of copies, but it could sell enough to justify the work put into it. Which would be cool.

That said, I doubt this will ever happen.
