Rob Gallerani jumped ship a bit over a year ago… There is no dev for D2:R.

That means no updates.

Nada, zero, zip, zilch, nothingburger.

The answer changes nothing, you are either going to play or you’re not.

I know, im just mad with the lack of communication, they just talk about diablo 4.

Because Diablo 4 is their cash cow right now. They are trying to milk it for all that it is worth.

Give it a few years, they’ll get tired of getting dust from those udders, maybe they’ll come back and tinker around with D2:R some more in an attempt to try and figure out the secret of how Blizzard North made great ARPGs.

(My guess is they will never figure it out, because it doesn’t fall in line with their greedy ways.)

D4 a cash cow? …no really
At the start it was, because people love Diablo 2, some also love Diablo 3. Most people could not believe that Diablo 4 will be SUCH a let down.

That seems to be Blizzards motif…

Release a game that is viewed as “unfinished” or otherwise a dumpsterfire, then sprinkle small doses of what the community feedback agrees that would be better for game in the form of changes, features and fixes… That way the game slowly and gradually becomes a “good” game over time in the eyes of the community. Plus it pleases those that crave constant changes.

Then when the changes stop, those that crave constant changes start going nuts. That’s when Blizzard has another unfinished dumpsterfire game ready for release and continued forging on the community feedback anvil.

It just so happens to work, it keeps the larger part of the franchise community on the hook, and the cash flowing.

It sux. D2R was a hit with like 500,000 daily users in the first 4 seasons. They let it die in season 5 and brought on the flagship d4, which is an unfathomable trash pile waiting to be scrapped. I hope, they do surprise us with something. I am guessing by Fletcher’s lack of enthusiasm, this is the end.

d3 release was a MASSIVE let down as well… that’s when they lost me. since then the company hasn’t been able to really figure out what made diablo great and it’s pretty sad to watch them ruin what could’ve been the greatest RPG franchise of all time.
