corpse explosion a5merc telestomp necro (with Beast or last wish wep on necro)
okay (10 builds)
hydra or inferno sorc (hydra and inferno slow-moving projectiles are bad because they are easy to dodge and don’t shoot aoe fireballs, inferno and firewall aoe is too thin)
trapsin (can’t optimize facets because they don’t work on minions such as traps, slower teleport cast speed)
fire ele druid (terrible aoe AI, can’t optimize facets because enigma and hoto for faster tele and res requirement for hell mode and sunder charms, slower teleport cast speed)
trolladins (auras but no tele)
bowazon (expensive af and mid dmg tuning, on-hit dmg effects nerfed on ranged physical builds)
bone necro (low dmg tuning but higher than most other spell builds not listed above)
zerk hork barb (squishy af cuz of lowered defense from zerk spell)
frenzy barb (slow tele but really fast run speed, no aoe)
gold find merc barb (boring af cuz u just support)
bad (so many)
any poison build because of low dmg tuning or “bug” (poison dmg bugs out or completely stops when there is incoming non-poison dmg on the enemy target from another source such as a minion/merc/player dmg because of how diablo 2 calculates dmg per frame)
any summoner build (“AI bug”/terrible non-merc minion AI not sure about golems tho, especially after teleporting they don’t attack or move until you left-click move; also they can block pathing of your merc which is really bad)
almost every other physical dmg build not listed above (not area of effect or low dmg tuning, and no teleport usually)
other ele random builds such as frost bowazon, tornado druid, etc. (low dmg tuning, physical resistance, or terrible aoe AI)
Terror Zones are not “gimmicky” they were sorely needed since lvl 98’s can only farm Nihl, Diablo, and Baal for xp. although it probably should have been for Hell mode only.
other than that, I agree, tons of builds need buffing.
why do you think that is? do you think people hate getting new stats and skills? its because it is so tediously long and tiresome to only farm those bosses for months. now, the casual player could hit 99 within a few weeks. the first 99 will be in 2-3 days lol. its now obtainable for people to hit 99, so they will.
Someone hasn’t played a Poison Necro which arguably gets VERY good now with TZs giving so much XP
“any” gets a bit countered by “Fishymancer” but… yes… pure Necro army or Druid isn’t great
Anyone who preferred playing in areas like Pits, etc. instead of Baal run #1123478 will like TZs and TZs get a bit silly when it hits something like Cows. Also, when you TZ the bosses it is VERY good due to drop calcs for people to play.
you were right and i was wrong. the terror zones lvl you up crazy fast if you have a high lvl person in your party. sucks that it keeps rotating randomly instead of repetitive like on a schedule. this is terrible for people that can only play at a specific time. they need to make the level bonuses permanent throughout the entire hell map or give you an option to opt-in into an upgraded hell mode after killing hell baal. this would be so awesome.
other than that, many specs still need huge tuning. lite builds and corpse necros are still dominating too hard especially in fast paced terror zones. everyone else just leeches which is so sad
Sorry but that’s hyperbole at it’s best. Most people found it tedious to even lvl to 95 some say even 90. Casual players playing max 1-2 hours a day still won’t hit 99 anytime soon. It just reduces the grind for people that usually played for 99 and might motivate some that stopped at 95-97 to go further, which aren’t really casually playing.
It would be different if they would change terror zones to portals leading to replica maps of the currently terror zones and increase the density of the areas, especially of those that currently suck. Looking at you sewers
True, just tried glacial trails (a5, forgot its name) and its density was so bad compared to terror/regular chaos or arcane sanctuary.
They need to just add an opt-in feature to make the entire hell difficulty a terror zone so people can actually choose what they want on their own time. but it is thematic to be random as d2 is a heavily RNG-based game
I think the random aspect leads people to visit areas they usually wouldn’t. That’s one of the reasons they implemented the terror zones. That’s fine, but unless they change the density of those zones people will still rather do something else with their time.
Currently I rather log off than play one of the crappy zones.
If they would make the tz extra maps it also wouldn’t mess with normal density while playthrough.
Like I said many times before, it’s a nice idea but a bad implementation. Another problem is that tz are easily farmed solo p8 and some maps are spread out far. So no group play. Cows baal and cs are the closest thing to teamplay areas, because of densitiy and map design.
