tbf D2R is harder than dark souls
It was a fun event, Blizzard re-delivered the true hell experience. People who cried & whined just suck at playing this old game.
i dunno, i played so much d2:R and i tried to play dark souls 1 and the first skeleton killed me and that was the end of that game…
well yeah, if you don’t have the basic level of drive to try again after dying once then soulsborne really isn’t for you. But it really isn’t that hard once you get the hang of it. It just kills you a lot when you don’t know what to expect.
ya i’m used to diablo 2. where i never die. dying to the first skeleton seems like bad game design to me. things that aren’t obvious on the FIRST monster just bother me… i need to start figuring it out then? naw. not for me.
The whole point of the series is using death as a game mechanic in many ways. It’s part of the theme of the game, you are expected to die in Dark Souls because you’re a cursed undead.
You can’t really get into it expecting it to be like diablo. But to be fair, it’s 100% possible to do a run without taking any hits in dark souls, or even beat the game naked and without leveling up your character, where I don’t think you can do a no damage run or a level 1 run in Diablo.
Dark souls is hard, but I don’t think it’s necessarily the combat itself, and I’ll explain why.
The bosses aren’t that hard to figure out, but what makes the game unforgiving is that when you die, it takes 5-10 minutes of running through the saaame old area just to get another short opportunity to practice the boss and learn how he behaves.
Just my take on it, of course.
I don’t think it takes that long to go back to bosses, save for a few outliers most have bonfires reasonably close to them. Except in Dark Souls II but that game is just weird.
