Dclone event still uses IPs

The Diablo Clone event still uses server IPs to determine which games get a walk. The community has done at least two that I know of so far and publicized the results.

The game does not let you see which IP you’ve connected to, it requires 3rd party tools on PC to check your connection. Console players cannot see their IP at all.

At minimum the game needs to show us the server IP, it’s not acceptable for people to need to use other apps to discover their server. It’s going to lead to weird support tickets and also lost or stolen accounts when someone is tricked into installing spyware in order to participate in Dclone.

(But ideally, walking Dclone should stop using server IP addresses as the grouping strategy. It’s an outmoded and overly-technical way to do it.)

Yeah it is seriously bizarre they did not change that at least…

Seems like they had no time to add any innovative features at all. We should have had a working lobby and gameslist that promoted more community interaction. We went backwards in that department. So makes me wonder what we can expect for this game 1 - 2 years from now.

how about a proper functioning chat system, that woulda been great too, this current w/e you call it sucks so hard

You can’t link items in whispers. Half the time you link items in game chat it doesn’t work, just shows you the wrong item.
So many things with social aspects are wrong in this game.

Hi @Karew!

What app are you using to check the server IP you are connected to?
I refuse to give up playing this game with friends and I’m searching for ways at least to check if my friends are connected to the same IP as me.

Thank you!

They changed how it works, so you don’t need to worry about the IP anymore. It happens for the whole region - Americas or Asia or Europe.

I know, but that’s the problem:
My friend and I are both connected to the Americas servers, but cannot match our IP, so when I try to join a game my friend created (with name//pass because I cannot even see the game while in the Lobby), it hangs on the loading screen and end up showing “There is an error joining the game”.

Try using a VPN to connect to your friends area (if either if you have one) and see if that works.

Nope. Tried it with a VPN and still cannot connect to the same server.

I opened a ticket asking for help and they told me they cannot help me since I’m running D2R inside a VM in macOS. I’m pretty sure it’s not a problem from my end but an automatic match of my IP to a server, within America but a different from the one my friends are connected to.

Can you try joining each others game on the Europe servers?
