Dclone event change goes in wrong direction

On recent news we read the long awaited dclone change. But in my opinion those are the wrong changes.
Instead of small game range per server ip, dclone now spawns for whole region for every player on that region and we can even track that now with a new command. That actually sounds good, cause everyone now has a chance to spawn a dclone for himself and not just organized group events.
BUT: dclone now spawns on games by a factor of 1k or 10k, or whatever the amount of sub-servers even is. This will practically make annihilus almost worthless very fast, which is pretty sad.

A much better solution would have been to spawn 1 dclone per soj but only on the game it was sold on, like singleplayer.

What do you guys think

I would rather it be worthless than have a small group of people control the economy with it.

1 spawn per game per soj would be nice too. I doubt they’ll change it at this point though. It would at least keep its value in line with a soj.

I love that they keep it as a “community effort”.

To prevent spawning Dclone in “every game” they just need to prevent people who sit AFK in games from getting it (there should be anti-afk closing games after some time; and D clone must be spawned within a short time after being triggered). They should also buff his stats so he is like the Pandemonium diablo or a bit stronger (but not the PD2 level of nonsense)

Both options are kinda bad. Where’s the fun in having a really cool item if it’s just baseline thing.

This is a positive change.

Currently Anni’s farming and pricing is controlled by a small group of elite players.

In 2.4, everyone will have a chance at killing DClone.

Anni’s price will be in the Mal to Vex range instead of Ohm to Ber+ range.

This is a great change. No longer will the dclone hunters have control of the annis price.

Is it really bad though? I kinda like the idea that it’s really hard to get an item and there’s no straightforward way to it. Like “success” in general.

Diablo 2 is not socialism.

It’s not hard to get though, they fill up the server before they walk the clone ensuring that nobody else has a chance. Then they can set the price whatever they want. The changes will stop the ip camping.

yes, the “IP” address and out of game mechanics are bad and nonsense, I agree. Basically right now you kinda either pay the ransom or make up your own covenant

i also agree, the changes will destroy this bad mechanic which i welcome alot. But i dislike the big value drop of annihilus (and soj) which this change will cause :frowning:

I’m fine with it being common, that’s better than only the domain of the server farmers.

IMHO. As soon as you get diablo clone signal in game after random game makes it appear… any game not server… you should start to go on a monster killing spree like killing 20k or more monsters in every area then a portal should open up in town to fight him.
This way every map now becomes relevant. Also the density of monsters will go up in every area.

I am even for it, if they make it harder so you just can’t smite or kick away at them. They can make the monster go to players 16 if they want. That way the monster will laugh at your enigma, grief, botd, infinity merc etc etc. You will begin to see more team playing. Also killing monsters might net you good items and runes. Diablo clone could also drop items to make the difficulty worth while. With a slight chance for higher drop rate.

good idea in general but instead of any monsters i’d go for bosses\champions. Kill 100 bosses or smth. This makes it more fair between AoE\single target characters.

Yea hopefully no one was hording a bunch of Sojs, because it looks like they will drop in value too.

Yeah, it is bad. It is currently something that only a select few are able to do. A lot of the walks are organized on places like JSP and this new change should hopefully do away with that.

just one thing i want to add: we will probably see lots of people switching the regions depending on the current amount of sojs sold on each to get maximum dclone spawns.
This behaviour is probably not intended by the change

It’s right now mainly controlled by like 5% of the population if that. One runner in a Anni run can get 10-20 annis.

Current system would work if the Anni groups didn’t go so hard but they quite literally pick up 99% of annis.

No more anni monopoly?

Nice

Some people’s logic: Only players with nice build can beat uber and get a torch, let’s make a torch drop at Andarial normal.

IMO, there is a couple ways to keep this a community event and reasonable.

  1. You have to sell at least one soj to spawn uber diablo in your game. So it is still a community and you just sell sojs in whichever game you are in. No soj sold, no uber diablo spawn
  2. Or build a whole new system within diablo 2 lobby for a community where a community creates games and once sojs are sold, spawn uber diablo to all of the games in that community.

Spawing uber diablo in 10s of 1000s of games in a region when 100sojs are sold is a joke and will quickly make annis worthless

Thats exactly how it worked back in the day and D2lod had soj dupes, so it was even worst there

You are just crying bc you wont be able to farm shady forum currency every new ladder

I am just crying because the game is going to die if it goes in this direction.
