I enjoyed my time during the beta (played Barbarian to level 25) and thought the game was decent overall. I wanted to share some feedback with the development team for suggestions to improve the overall experience…
1. Character Customization
Firstly, character customization was extremely limited and thought it was more polished in Diablo Immortal. This is something they really need to work on before launch.
2. World Tiers
The world tiers should be changed to the following difficulties for consistency across the franchise:
- Adventurer
- Nightmare (replace Veteran)
- Hell (replace Nightmare)
- Torment
Note: The Item Power and Green and Red Arrows indicating better or worse gear should ONLY be displayed in Adventurer difficulty.
3. User Interface
To speak frankly, the UI is one of the worst parts of the game, mostly due to the fact so many different fonts are being utilized. They need to clean it up and unify the font. I recommend to allow the player to select a few different font choices for the UI and item description boxes in the Options Menu. In terms of inventory space, gems should get their own tab.
4. Environment
The best part of the game is the atmosphere and looks gorgeous. Consider adding more blood, especially on slashing weapons and show blood longer on dead bodies. Also, please consider adding dynamic weather and day-night cycles.
5. Dungeons
I played roughly 20 dungeons and the level design felt extremely repetitive with little variation. I hope the developers introduce more randomized dungeons via procedural generation. Also, dungeon chores got old very fast as you have to collect two items and insert into the pillar to unlock the door. Alternatives could be defeating a mini-boss, solving a puzzle, etc.
6. Itemization
When I reached level 25, my barbarian already found 3 legendary items and was decked out with rare items or better. TOO MUCH LOOT! Rare items seemed to drop like candy and was too common (makes you wonder what the purpose of magic items is)? They need to adjust the drop chance so rare items remain rare and legendary items are exceedingly rare. In addition, some affixes are too specific and/or not meaningful to be worthwhile. Lastly, affixes like Life and Mana Leech or Magic and Gold Find are surprisingly missing.
7. Leveling Up
Upon leveling up, you get 1 skill point. For more character customization, it should also grant stat points to assign into Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, and Dexterity. Lastly, they really need to remove killing all enemies on screen when you level up your character.
8. Camera Controls
In the Options Menu, allow player to adjust the FoV and be able to zoom out another notch or two from what’s currently available.
